on the professional rodeo ’
circuit When Tarleton began
looking for a man to head the
university's new horse
production and management
program in 1977 they hardly
thought to look on the rodeo
circuit for a man with a Ph D.
But Waymack had those
dual professional
qualifications.
He bolds a BS and MS from
the University of Arkansas
and Mississippi State and a
Ph. D. from Lousiana State.
He is a native of Pine Bluff,
Ark.
“I don’t think anyone' could
have loved rodeoing any more
than I did,” Waymack said
recently. He pointed out the
fact that he used to make 65 to
70 rodeos a year. “It was my
primary sport and source of
relaxation. Also during my
student years it was a source
of income even when I was
doing graduate work,
although I had to slack off to 30
to 35 rodeos a year.”
