Monday Aug. 6th was the
start of the week! We had er-

ed for the rest of the week.
Tuesday - Bingo Day! The
winners were: Lucille Marsh,
Grace Chatham, Eula Wood,
Effie Matlock, Nellie Carlisle,

Wanda Richmond took a
group to the Opry House in
Stephenville. They reported a
very good time! I sure hated
to miss that trip. Already they
wish to go again!
Wednesday - We had our
usual shopping trip to town.
Sing-A-Long at 2 o’clock, with
Vivian Morris at the piano.
The leaders were: Juanita
Jones, Elmer Thackerson, Ar-
chie* McCleskey, Effie
Matlock, Millie Jordon, Alene
Lee, Amanda Gilbreath, Mary
Powell, Fannie Harber, Anise
Bryan, Willie Walker, Melba
Humphries, and Lucy Miller.
We always have a good crowd
out for this. Everyone likes to
join in. Wednesday night we
had John Burrus out for sing-
ing and playing. Everyone
looks forward to John’s visit.

We were lucky enough to ac-
quire an authentic Neapolitan
recipe from Mrs. Lucy Capone
to pass along to you. It’s right
in tune with the times. Those
long and rather narrow light-,
green Italian frying peppers are
given a bread stuffing made
piquant with stuffed green ol-
ives and anchovies: then
they’re fried in a skillet. No
meat needed for the stuffing.
You don’t have to turn on the
oven.
Mrs. Capone loves to cook 1
and has an appreciative family.
Her husband and her mother,
who lives with them,' enjoy her
daily offerings. Her three chil-
dren and six grandchildren —
to say nothing of sisters, cous-
ins and aunts — all look for-
ward to coming to her hoiu»e
for meals.
Interestingly enough, she is
as skillful at improvising as site
is at preparing traditional Ital-
ian recipes. As a young woman
she came to the United States
from Italy, married an Italian-
American and began helping
out in her mother-in-law’s re:s-
taurant. There she learned to.
cook both elaborate and shorit-
order Italian dishes.
Leftovers never faze her. For
example, she said she would
probably use the anchovies and
some of the capers left front
