not political; the subject of
the war is incidental to the
psychological, emotional
story, primarily about three
women with husbands who
are POW-MIA, women un-
certain of their husbands’
lives, living a life in limbo
because they are never sure.
The women are varied; an
older woman with four chil-
dren (Miss Nolan’s role), a
young woman from a mili-
tary family, and a wealthy
Southern girl, each with dif-
ferent reactions to their sit-
uations; having husbands out
of their reach.

Nolan visits campus
Kathleen Nolan, one of the
stars of the new Universal
picture “Limbo”, was.at St.
Mary’s L101 on Wednesday,
November 8. She discussed
the new movie about POW-
MIAwives in the absence of
their men, and the attitude
of women in controlling roles
in pictures. Miss Nolan, the
one-time star of “The Real
McCoys” and “Broadside”,
has primarily acted in the-
ater in recent years and is
the first woman Vice-Pres-
ident of the Screen Actors
Guild.

Kirk Douglas and “Peyton

peared at the advance pre-
view, free to all students, at
the Broadway Theatre on No-
vember 2, and answered
questions for almost an hour
in regard to the movie, and
talked about it. For example,
it is opening in the South-
west (it started last Friday
'• -at the Broadway Theatre);
Robson often uses relative
unknowns in his movies;
and to avoid possiblyplaying
on emotions of POW-MIA
relatives he made his own
films clips in place of the
North Vietnam prison film
footage available for certain
scenes in the movie.
“Limbo” is an inter-
esting, enjoyable movie that
fits in perfectly with recent
news. The music is great;
the movie is very realistic
(filmed mainly on location in
Florida). “Limbo” has
something to say and says
it with an insight that is'
moving without being senti-
mental.

As it turns out, Hansel’s
and Gretel’s stepmother
wasn’t such a bad old girl
after all.
So Kathryn Fleming, a St.

stepmother role in this ver-

witch’s spell.”
