The City of Dell City would appreciate any paint, any
color, tires, chains, etc., to help build our children play-
ground oark behind the baseball park. We will pick up.
Call Holly Henderson, i at 964-2344.
We’ve enjoyed some beautiful rainbows of late - the late af-
ternoon skies have been spectacular. On Wednesday, June 20,
driving back from El Paso, a gorgeous rainbow reached from
Guadalupe Peak to Nelson Puett’s Diablo Mountain Ranch
southeast of Dell Valley - the way the sunlight fell on the
east end of that mountain clearly dis played the large canyon
that is not visible normally from Dell Valley, and the huge
rainbow ended at this point. Really beautiful! Then again
on June 21 another beautiful rainbow and a spectacular, bril-
liant sunset that evening. Every day well Valley’s skies are
breathtaking.

some words from columnist
Tom Anderson

"Our nation was founded by
men who believed in God, in
individual freedom, in high
moral values, in personal res-
ponsibility. Whether we survive
as free men or slaves depends
on whether we can resurrect our
moral strength. V’e must fear
slavery more than we fear war.
We must fear Hell more than
we fear poverty. The wages of
wealth are comfort, complacen-
cy, caution, cowardice, com-
promise. As any fool should
know, we can’t possibly save
the world unless we can save
America.

on the building. Everyone’s help is needed. an(J we n’eed more and better

Former Dell Citian, Mildred Pauley, was visiting in the valley
from her home in Talpa, Texas, this past week. Mildred was
City Secretary before moving to Talpa. It was good to see her.
Licha and Daniel Chacon were pleased to see their latest
son again this past weekend. Pepe, Flora and Jose Xavier
were here from Monahans. The baby was due a checkup in El
Paso, so they stopped in Dell City on the way. Licha says the
baby is growing very fast.
Enjoyed a visit with Barbara Wheelis on Monday. Barbara is
visiting her parents, Frank and Virginia Brownfield, while hus-
band Mark is on a business trip to south Texas. It was interesting
to hear about Barb’s hobbies of sculpture and pottery - hope to
see some of it soon. She reports that Marfa "looks like a golf
course" - some 13-1/2 inches of rain in the last month or so!

Had a card from Father John Casey who is visiting friends
and acquaintances in Massachusetts and Vermont. He visited
long-time friends, the George Nobles, in Boston, and on to
St, Michael’s College in Vermont. He planned to be back
in the southwest soon.
It will be a big 4th of July celebration at the Perry’s Glencoe
Ranch at Glencoe, New Mexico. It’s the 100-year anniversary
< of the landownership. Around 200 people are expected to take
pert in the 4th celebration and b-b-que. Leroy and Lola Mae
are there this week helping to get things in order - the Wayne
Perrys were helping out last weekend, too. Know everyone
will have a great time.
Kay Karr spent a few days in
Oklahoma this paastweek
with her brother and family,
Olen and Eli Foreman, and
also to fly back with her
mother, ray Foreman, who
had been visiting there,
but who had the misfortune of
having pmeumonia, and being
hospitalized. We hope that be-
ing back home and in the dry
climate will make Fay recup>
erate rapidly.
Visited with Pat Brewton
briefly at the Mini Mart last
week - she was excited about
meeting her children in Mid-
land for a get together. Lisa
who works in San Antonio was
to come home with her.
