Robert and Darlene Burris and daughter Sally stopped off to see
Deed Elliott for a short while on Aug. 20. Her parents were tak-
ing Sally to Alpine where she will be attending Sul Ross this next
yean Darlene is the daughter of Tom and Ruth Dolan. She is
also the great-niece of Deed Elliott.
Pat Bramblett had a call from son Patrick who entered law school
at Texas Tech this summen He had been notified that he had
been accepted in law school at the University of Texas. Wife
Bobbie is a legal secretary in a law firm she likes very much.
The young couple decided to stay on in Lubbock. Patrick had
previously been accepted at the University of Houston, and at
St. Mary's in San Antonio. We wish Patrick well in his studies
and Bobbie success as a legal secretary.
Melinda Messick spent the week before school started at Clint,
with her Nanny, Fay Sears.

Minnie Snyder has been enjoying a visit from her sister Gladys
Stewart. The two ladies tock off on a trip to Santa Re, called
Darlene August 23 from Pagosa Springs, Colo., and plan to study
their map and go to any place that strikes their fancy. How nice.

Darlene said that son Wesley went to be in Skeeter Wilbank's
wedding, and was back at home. Twin Lesley is working a 9
hour day in a mine in Gunnison, Colo. He likes his work very
much.
Husband Leon Snyder left Aug. 3 to spend over two weeks in
Greensboro, Md. visiting friends, the LeComptes, and came home
Aug. 18. While there Leon enjoyed working on the farm and
chicken ranch.
La Juana Saathoff, Sally Beams, Darlene Snyder and Dorothy
Jopes left for Capitan, NM Aug. 10, They took in an auction at
Capitan the 11th and started home the 12th, stopping to shop all
along the way. The reported a delightful trip
Jack and Dorothy Jones drove to Midland to spei
of Aug. 14 and 15 with their son Kevin and wife ’
The Allamoore School Board met i7' the County Judge's Office
August 24* Topper Frank and Goroun McAdoo were present, but
Jewell Lutich was unable to attend.
Al and Gertie Joslyn have really been traveling about, visiting
friends and relatives. The Joslyns left in June visiting in Florida,
North Carolina, and up the East Coast, then to Michigan, Indiana,
Missouri, Austin, Texas, San Antonio, then home. They were
gone five and a half weeks.
Daughter Betty Jane, husband Jim Gorsuch and two daughters
live in Panama City, Florida. He is in the Air Force, and had
been in Greenland.
Gertie and Al visited at Mt. Clements, Mich, at her sisters, at
Davidson, Mich, with his cousin, in Harrison, Mich, with friends,
also to Nbvi, Mich, to visit.
They visited friends in Anderson, Indiana, Independence, Mo»,
Austin, and San Antonio, Gertie said she was not ready to come
home when they did!
Daughter Toni and husband "Doc" Doolin and two boys will be
here from Guam in Sept, to visit before going on to Fallon, Nev.
to visit and live until "Doc" comes stateside. Son Jerry and wife
are in Guam, and plan to visit stateside the last of September,
but will not be home to stay until September 1985. Jerry and
his wife will be parerts in Sept. Jerry is the youngest of the
Joslyn Clan and is well remembered here as he attended high
school here.

Fay Moss of Palo Alto, Calif,
has been visiting her mother
Jewel McAdoo and sister
Jewel Lutich. While at the
McAdoo Ranch, Fay visited
cousins Gordon and Doris, the
Hammacks and Gilmores at
Salt Flat and Bernice Elder at
Sierra Blanca.
An ice cream and cake social
was enjoyed by 50 or 60 peo-
ple on the church lawn Sun-
day afternoon August 19.
Tables and chairs were set up
and everyone had a delightful
time.
The Hudspeth County Com-
missioners Court will hold a
Public Hearing on the Handi-
capped at 3 P. M. Monday,
September 10, 1984, at the
County Courthouse in Sierra
Blanca, Texas. The Hearing
will be concerned with the po-
licies to be set by Hudspeth
County which will assure the
Handicapped of equal oppor-
tunity to employment and ser-
vices furnished by Hudspeth
County. The Court will be con-
cerned with establishing a per-
sonnel policy, a grievance
committee, and the drafting of
a plan for correcting physical
deficiencies in county proper-
ties and/or equipment which
affect the Handicapped. Handi-
capped persons are especially
urged to attend.

care of the garden and helc
distribute the vegetables grown
in it. Money donated for veg-
etables is put into the FFA ac-
count for use the next year for
seeds, and hopefully for the
purchase of a garden tiller in
the near future.
Most of the different vege-
tables grown in the garden will
be entered in the produce sec-
tion at the County Fair in Dell
City in late September.
Vegetables grown this year
were green beans, wax beans,
pinto beans, blackeyed peas,
English peas, red and green
okra, sunflowers, 10 varieties
of squash, watermelons, red
and white potatoes, gourds,
sweet potatoes, 5 varieties of
peppers, eggplant, cabbage,
cucumbers, corn, milo, carrots,
beets, radishes, cantaloupes,
red and white onions, kershaws,
3 varieties of pumpkins and
lettuce.
This past year, the ag classes
also planted 20 Blue Eldarcia
Pine trees, 10 fruit trees, 13
grape vines and 24 blackberry
bushes at the school farm, and
at the Ag Building.
Many food items may be
found at the Ag Dept, and
your donation furthers this good
work and training of our young
people.
We are very impressed with
our modest Ag Teacher, Andy
Paulk, who works alone and
with the help of the students.
Spading the hard ground in this
area is indeed hard work So
many of us in the community
are unaware of the work quietly
going on. Your interest and
help is appreciated.
NOw, that school is about to.
start, we know that there will
be others working throughout
the school system, who are
dedicated to teaching our

Gertie and Al Joslyn plan a trip Aug. 24, 25 and 26 to Holloman
AFB to see granddaughter Lynette Rachal, one great grandson
and one great-granddaughter. Son-in-law Paul Rachal is in the
Air Force, and has just returned from Saudi Arabia.
The Joslyns plan a trip to Calif, after their daughter visits in
Sept.
The Dalton Wests received a call from son Dalton, Jr. on Friday
evening Aug. 10, telling them that his mother-in-law, Myrtle
Deike and one of her sisters were killed in an automobile acci-
dent while on their way to Fredericksburg, Tx. The ladies lived
in Stonewall. A man driving on the wrong side of the road at a
high rate of speed hit them head-orw They all three died in—
stantly, both cars were demolished. Our deepest sympathy to
this grief-stricken family.
Judge Doyle Ziler enjoyed a beautifully decorated birthday cake
and punch and ice cream Friday afternoon Aug. 24* Present
were friends from the offices in the courthouse and wife Holly.
Many happy returns of the day, Judge, and may you enjoy
many, many more happy birthdays.
Aled Williams of Mold, Wales and Paul Collins of Newcastle on
Tyne, England, left Camp Grady Spruce in Passion Kingdom
August 17 or 18 and drove to Las Cruces. White Sands, Carlsbad
Caverns and arrived Tues. Aug. 21 in Sierra Blanca, where they
were house guests of Tom and Jean Ellison.
Tom took Aled and Paul to see the Eagle Mountains, which
they enjoyed very much. They enjoyed walking around town
and meeting folks. Ava McClintock was vistied at the post
office, and they were very impressed by her kind friendly mannen

Wosika early Monday, Aug. 20
on a flight to San Diego,
Although retired from Solar -
a division of International
Harvester, Leon's services as
a design engineer are needed
about one week out of each
month in San Diego. The
boys were looking forward to
swimming and seeing the
sights with their grandmother.
They also hoped to see their
cousin James McCasland who
is in Marine Cook's School at
nearby Camp Pendleton. The
boys and their grandparents
flew back to El Paso late Fri-
day night, Aug. 24*
Van Hom schools start Wed.
Aug. 22 Four of our grand-
children are attending the
schools there. John Elder is
a Senior, Michelle McCasland
is a Junior, Carl Elder is in
the 7th grade and C-Unt Elder
is in the 2nd grade. Young
Keesey King will soon be 2
years old. Robert Elder will
be a 6th grader at Western
Hills in El Paso, and Joe will
also be there in the first grade
when school starts Aug, 27.
The Sierra Blanca teachers
have been having their week
of in-service which ended Fri-
day afternoon Aug, 24. School
starts Monday morning Aug.
