......OUR CONDOLENCES
to the wonderfully large
families of Granny Emma
Lewis who passed away last
week in Carlsbad......this
pioneer lady lived most of
her 99 years in the Weed
and Crow Flat area, having
given birth to eleven chil-
dren (two dying in infancy),
but those remaining 9 chil-
dren increased the family
of Granny Emma by 31
grandchildren, 86 great-
grandchildren, and 52
great-great grandchildren
....must surely be a record
family.......and one that
brought many days of happi-
ness for her......seems like
the life of our early pioneers
and the harships they faced,
made them stronger, wiser
and healthier...................
Our thoughts and prayers,
too, are with the family
of Diane McLane who passed
away at the young age of
36 last week in Sierra Bl-
anca.....Diane was a strong
worker against the proposed
Nuclear Dump for Hudspeth
County.....and while living
in El Paso a few months ago
had written to let us know
that she was still concerned
and offered her help and
expressed a desire to be
kept up to date on these mat-
ters......................................
