JUNE HOURS AT THE CLINIC

THE CLEANUP WEEK
in Dell City made a tremen-
dous showing along our main
streets....still with on-going
cleanup, a celebration of
DELL CITY DAY, Saturday,
May 23, will be topped off
with a Bar-B-Que hopefully
every week will show a main-
tenance of our town’s clean
look....there are still a few
spots that need some work,
and we hope that those owners
will cooperate and make the
cleanup one hundred percent -
a town that cares will grow
and prosper....as the ordinance
reads on T
Herald, owners can be forced
to clean up refuse and junk -
let’s hope that no one will
have to be forced, but will
take it up on themselves to
join the cleanup the
numerous groups and owners
who have been working so
hard are certainly to be com-
mended - the young people,
the county crews, Dell Tele-
phone, C of C members, busi-
nesses and residents - HATS
OFF TO ALL!!...Saturday, in-
deed, win be DELL CITY Day,
resplendent with a clean look
and a b-b-que!
CONGRATULATIONS
TO ALL THE GRADUATES
THIS MONTH....you’re in the
spotlight at this time, and on
your way to the success you’ve
earned through years of hard
work and diligent endeavor
may you find life as rewarding
as aU of us take pride in you,
and watch as you become a
credit to your community and
country....as you look forward
to new challenges and horizons, »
may good fortune be with you j

1 SOME THOUGHTS ON MEMORIAL DAY
XKind of a weird thing to say? Not really, consider this. If Amer-j
■ icans aren’t a little freer and little a bit happier because of
"their sacrifice, then what was the purpose of it all? i
j There is a certain horrible futility in the death of any person, ]
■ but for the young, the men and women who have yet to exper-
ience life at all, there is an extra sadness.
2 There were heroes among them, but many were just in the
■ wrong place at the wrong time. One young man was carrying
a a large can of garbage when the cross-hairs of a snipers scope
2 came to rest on him. Another opened a booby-trapped camera
I he bought from a street vendor. The list is endless, but the
* nature of the death doesn't matter so much as the fact that their
X country called and they stood up proudly and answered the call.
■ They placed their own honor and the honor of their country
" ahead of their own personal safety.
X Somehow I feel that if I could look beyond that veil called
■ death on Memorial Day, I'd see my old friends again with their
..ao me viuinai.L-c * military caps rather unmilitarily askew and their ^thumbs turned
Page 1*8 oTthis^eek’s; Xup in that universal gesture that means "right-on . You know,
TL .a "they might have better seats for the big race than we do. I know
J that there is a just and merciful God who welcomed them back
I to His breast, and who would likely get them the best seats in
■ the house.
X It is soon to be Memorial Day again. It's a day set aside by
the United States to honor the dead of our many wars. For some
it will be a day of auto racing and freedom from work, and if
you think I'm going to chide you for enjoying tthe day, you re
WSomehc>w I think those women and men who gave all that they
had to give, their lives, would be delighted to see Americans
enjoying themselves. You see, they're the ones who got you the
day. Without their sacrifice there would be no Memorial Day.
