The Sisterhood of Beth Yeshurun
extends to its members and friends,
and to Congregation Beth Yesh-
urun, its very best wishes for-health
happiness and prosperity in the
New Year. We look forward eager-
ly to the completion, within this
year, of our magnificent new Syn-
agogue and pray that we may come
together within its walls for wor-
ship, for education and for service
to God and man. May we celebrate
many “simchos” together, and may
the year 5710 bring peace to Israel
and to our people throughout the
world.
MRS. JACOB RUDNICK, Pres.,
Beth Yeshurun Sisterhood.

We have moved forward during
the past year and hope that in the

Membership in the Congregation Beth
Yeshurun is by annual dues, $1.00 of
which is for a year’s subscription to the
“Message.”
“Entered as second-class matter De-
cember 19, 1946 at the post office at
Houston, Texas, under the Act of March
3, 1879.”
We are very happy to announce
that Rabbi Abraham Rabinowitz,
formerly of San Antonio, Texas,
will chant the service and preach
during the High Holiday season at
our Orthodox Synagogue at Char-
tres and Cla'j.
Rabbi Rabinowitz, although com-
pletely blind, will chant the entire
Mussaf Services of Rosh Hashanah
and Yom Kippur from memory,
and will preach during the High
Holiday season. He has often of-
ficiated at our Orthodox Synago-
gue; and his chanting of the ser-
vices as well as his sermons, learn-
ed and yet interesting, have left a
deep impression upon those who
have had the privilege of hearing
him.
We are sure that those who at-
tend the services at our Orthodox
Synagogue will profit greatly by
listening to Rabbi Rabinowitz’s ren-
dition of the traditional services,
and to his inspiring and learned
sermons.
The Beth Yeshurun Men’s Club
takes this opportunity to wish our
entire Membership a very happy
New Year. May the year 5710
bring to all of us health, happiness
and contentment. May it be our
privilege to serve throughout the
coming year in loyalty and devo-
tion the cause of our people. Le-
shanah Tovah Tikathevu!
Saul B. Lieberman, President,
Beth Yeshurun Men’s Club.'
lor the first time in the history of
our Jewish community, all of the five
major Synagogues in Houston and its
Rabbis will participate in a community
wide Holiday radio program on Sunday
afternoon, October 2 from 3:30 to 4:30
p. m. over Station K. T. R. H.
It will be a review of the significance
of all the Holy Days of this sacred sea-
son, with illustrations from the char-
acteristic Synagogue music for each of
the festivals.
The following will participate:
Selichos — Rabbi Max Landman.
Rosh Hashanah — Rabbi Robert I.
Kahn.
Shabbat Shuvah — Rabbi Max Geller
and Cantor Philip Gorodetzer.
7om Kippur — Rabbi William S. Ma-
lev and Cantor George Wagner.
Sukkos — Rabbi Hyman J. Schachtel.
Rabbi Malev originated this program
and will be its chairman.
We are grateful to KTRH for its cour-
tesy in granting us time for this pro-
gram and we urge you to tune in and
listen to this unique event.
We are quite fortunate in having
such men as Rabbi Malev, Cantor
Wagner, Mr. Jacob Levin and Mr.
Lazar Goldberg to head the var-
ious functions of our Congregation,
for, under their leadership and
guidance in the various depart-
ments, we have attained men of
ability and thorough understand-
ing of the needs of our entire mem-
bership.
May we pray and hope that the
coming year will be a healthy one
for all of us, and a peaceful one for
the whole world. May we see the
light of day come forth from the
land of Israel that will fill us all
with pride and happiness.

Another innovation of great interest
for this year’s High Holiday services,
will be the entrusting of the Mincha
Service of Yom Kippur to our young
folks. They will take over the complete
service, the chanting of the Hebrew, the
reading of the Torah and the Prophets,
as well as a brief sermonette and the
readings in English.
Leon Weiner is in charge of the ser-
vice, and assisting him will be the fol-
lowing: Pincus Brounes, Abe Dunn,
Isaac Dvoretzky, Stanley Fleischmann,
Bennie L. Katz, Abe Lewis, Leonard
Rauch, Lester Rosen, Sol Weiner, and
Avrohm Wisenberg.
