An additional candle should
be kindled on every successive
evening until eight candles
are sending forth the message
of Chanukah on Sunday eve-
ning, December 30.
Our lost and found closet is running
over—so many items lost but so few
reclaimed. If you have lost anything
around the Congregation, please call
the office and give us a description of
the article, or better still come down
and look through the collecion and see
what’s yours. We have many children’s
items of clothing, particularly boy’s
jackets. Also included are public school
books, sweaters, caps, purses, etc. The
items that have been here for more
than several weeks, if not claimed dur-
ing this month, will be turned over to
our Sisterhood for their Rummage Sale.
Beginning with the first Sunday in
January, January 6th, and for three
months until April 1st, the “Voice of
Beth Yeshurun” will be heard every
Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. over sta-
tion KTRH in a half-hour program in
the “Church of the Air” series.
This will be the first time that the
“Voice of Beth Yeshurun” will be given
a full half-hour program, and we hope
to include in it musical selections from
the services of the synagogue, which
will be rendered by the Beth Yeshurun
Choir under the direction of Cantor
Wagner.
There will be a series of thirteen
messages by Rabbi Malev on the gen-
eral theme “Jews who Contributed to
the Civilization of the Race”. He will
give the biographies of thirteen immor-
tal leaders of our faith whose contrib-
utions to the knowledge and the happi-
ness of mankind will be the deathless
legacy of the race.
Everyone is cordially invited to tune
in to this interesting and stimulating
series.
Rabbi Malev will give the
message. *

Beginning with the first Sunday in
January, January 6th, the “Jewish Bible
Hour”, under the sponsorship of Beth
Yeshurun, will run a series of reports
from Israel, given by outstanding Jew-
ish and non-Jewish visitors to the Holy
Land. These will be heard on Sunday
afternoons at 2 p.m. over station KLEE
(610 on your dial), beginning with Jan-
uary 6th and continuing until Octo-
ber 1st.
These leading visitors to Israel will
be interviewed by Dr. Carl Hermann
Voss National Director of the Christian
Council for Israel and the series will
include the world’s most prominent
statesmen, educators, clergymen, and
men of affairs. Thus the listeners will
have the privilege of being brought up
to date on what is happening in Israel.
MEN'S CLUB LATKE PARTY
TO BE HELD DECEMBER 25
Our Men’s Club annual Latke Party
and election of officers for 1952 will be
the feature attraction of the December
meeting which will be held Tuesday
evening, December 25. The very pop-
ular Pot ’o Luck so ably presented by
Sol Black will, of course, continue to
be a feature of the meeting.
Following in the footsteps of the
many previous well attended meetings
and the most recent very successful
Thanksgiving Eve Dinner and program
presented by the Sisterhood and Men’s
Club jointly, there is every indication
that this year’s Latke Party meeting will
bring out the crowd of the year. Re-
member, all you latke eaters, these are,
those real home-made super delicious
latkes—the kind that Mother always
made when you were a kid. Yum, yum,
and Oh Boy!
Our Beth Yeshurun Men’s Club has
had a busy and fruitful year in help-
ing the congregation carry out several
successful projects, and it is looking
forward to making 1952 a real banner
year of activity. The combined dinner
evenings with the Sisterhood have
served most admirably in bringing the
members of Beth Yeshurun closer to-
gether and have made it possible for
many of our newer members to get
acquainted with others of the congrega-
tion.
Max Zelen, President of the Men’s
Club, urges each and every member to
be sure to attend this year’s Latke
Party and election of officers. The ex-
act date will be announced in the very
near future.
