Brotherhood Dinner

The
MESSAGE
with the decision of the Troop Com-
mittee and the leaders of the Scout
Movement in our congregation and in
our city.

Our Men’s Club will be hosts this
year at the Annual Brotherhood Din-
ner, and guests will be the Bethany
Christian Church, and the St. Thomas
More Catholic Church. The date is
February 20th, at 7:00 p.m. in the
Pulaski-Rauch Auditorium. The guest
speaker will be Mr. Ray Miller, news
director of K.P.R.C. Dr. Kenneth Hor-
witz, general chairman of the affair,
will be Master of Ceremonies.
As usual, Max Lewis will serve a
delicious menu consisting of Roast Beef,
Kishka, Cole Slaw, Green Beans, Rolls,
Coffe and Cake. The cost for Beth
Yeshurun members will be $3.00 Please
make your reservations eary by calling
the Beth Yeshurun office.
Beth Yeshurun Annual Dinner
February 18,1968
The 23rd Annual Dinner of Congre-
gation Beth Yeshurun will be held on
Sunday, February 18, 1968 at 6:00
p.m. in the Pulaski-Rauch Auditorium.
The election and installation of new
officers and Board members for 1968,
combined with a program to appeal to
everyone, has been planned by the
Chairman, Jack J. Forman. Mr. Herb-
ert Laufman, well-known Houston busi-
nessman, will act as Master of Cere-
monies.
The program for the evening will be
an original musical review depicting
Jewish humor through the ages, en-
titled “Legacy of Laughter”. Participat-
ing in the program will be Cantor
Wagner, Deanna Kantor and Betty
Gorme, with narration by Shirley Litt-
man. Assisting Mrs. Littman in the di-
rection of the program will be Mrs.
Samuel (Ruby Lee) Shainock. Mr. Mel
Lustgarten will prepare the sets and
Mr. Morris Silberman will be in charge
of lighting. Mrs. Harold (Sarah) Dan-
iels will be the backstage assistant.
Dinner will begin promptly at 6:00
p.m. Convert is $5.50 per person and
reservations may be made by calling
the Congregation office at MO 6-1181.

Annual Scout Service
February 9th At 8 P.M.
The Annual Scout Service of Con-
gregation Beth Yeshurun will take
place on Friday evening, February 9th
at 8 p.m. in the Great Sanctuary of
our congregation.
Our guests on that occasion will be
Scout Troop #247, which for many
years has been sponsored by the Men’s
Club of our congregation, and the Cub
Scout Pack which is connected with the
troop. Mr. David Metrik is the Scout-
master of the troop, and Mr. Fred
Heyman is the Cubmaster of the Cub
Pack.
A Ner Tamid Award will be pre-
sented to Larry Alexander, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Alexander, and other
awards will be presented in accordance
Dr. A. G. Taylor to Speak at interfaith Service
fred G. Taylor, Senior Minister of the
Bellaire Presbyterian Church ,who will
speak on “Life's Testing Times,” (Gen-
esis 32).
Dr. Taylor was born in China and
attended Darlington School in Rome,
Georgia; Davidson College in Davidson,
N. C., A.B. in 1947; Union Theological
Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, B.D.,
1950; Yale University Language Di-
ploma; Columbia University, M.A.,
1958; and the University of Virginia,
Charlottesville, Virginia.
He was ordained to the Ministry of
the Presbyterian Church in the United
States in 1950.
Dr. Taylor was the president of the
Ministerial Association in 1959; mem-
ber of the Lexington Presbytery and
Synod of Virginia; and moderator of
Lexington Presbytery in 1962.
He is married and the father of one
son and three daughters.
He is the author of the pamphlets,
“The Church’s Ministry for Today” and
“Presbyterian Youth Devotions,” and
was a member of the Virginia State
Planned Parenthood Board; and the
United States Army, Military Intelli-
gence during World War 11 in China.
