Mrs. Harold Joachim is handling out
of Congregation reservations for the
Donor Affair. Our apologies to her for
accidentally omitting her name in last
months Message.
Sisterhood Thanks . . .
We wish to thank Mr. and Mrs.
Pincus Juran for the contribution in
honor of Mrs. Juran’s mother and
father, David and Mina Spiner and her
brothers Charles and Jack Spinner.
Through this act you have helped Sis-
terhood to continue to carry out its
worthwhile endeavors.
become regular habits. Many people
who claim that they get religion in the
woods, get poison ivy instead. Many
who claim that music is their religion
won’t know a mazurka from a bazooka.
Many who claim that doing good is
their religion, somehow do good only
for themselves.
Enterfaith Workshop
The 10th Annual Interfaith Work-
shop will take place on Thursday,
February 15th, at the Willow eMadows
Baptist Church, 4300 W. Bellfort at
Greenwillow. This year’s workshop
promises to be the most informative
and inspiring one yet and many steps
have been taken towards attaining that
goal. Principal speaker will be E. C.
Rowand, Jr. of Dallas, Minister in the
Church of the Disciples of Christ.
Three prominent panelists will serve
also: Dr. Jane Preston, noted Psychia-
trist; Mrs. Edward Eugere, Teacher in
the Houston Independent School Dis-
trict who is founder of “The Panel of
American Women,” a local inter-faith
and inter-racial group of women; and
Miss Claudia Nelson, VISTA volun-
teer.
There will be two sessions of the
Workshop, one at 10:00 a.m. and one
at 7 p.m. Lunch will be served at the
morning session and a 6:30 supper at
the evening session. Registration is only
$1 and this includes your meal and in-
formation kit.
This year, for the first time, vari-
ous religious and racial organizations
will have information booths set up
where you can obtain information on
what action you can take to promote
brotherhood in your community. We
urge you to come and bring your
friends and neighbors to this exciting-
event. Do your part to represent your
faith as well as benefit yourself. For
additional information on registration,

Religion, like any good skill, requires
constant practice. I received one of the
most instructive lessons of my life when
I saw the great Rachmaninoff, during
a tiring journey, take a dummy piano
board out of his suitcase and practice
finger exercises for several hours on end.
So in religion, prayer and worship must

Mexico Is In The Air
Some of the nicest people you know
are humming Mexican tunes, searching
for recipes for Kosher Enchiladas and
borrowing serapes, sombreros and Span-
ish Guitars. Yes, Mexico is in the air
as Sisterhood makes plans for a fabu-
lous Donor Affair on April 2nd in Beth
Yeshurun’s Pulaski-Rauch Auditorium.
Just the other day El Cantor Jorge
Wagner (also known as Cantor Wag-
ner) was heard singing a few choruses
of Celito Lindo. He discolsed that in-
deed he had been invited to entertain
at the luncheon. Sefiora Annette Son-
dock (Mrs. Larry Sondock) will also be
featured, and her Mexican duets with
El Cantor promise to be exciting.
Chairmen of the Donor Affair, Mrs.
Sam Cohen and Mrs. Abe Friedman
have many wonderful plans concern-
ing decorations, entertainments and
door prizes. Battelsteins has agreed to
stage a beautiful fashion show, under
the direction of well-known fashion co-
ordinator Judy Ward. The Stella Cot-
trell Travel Agency, (Tennessee Build-
ing, B-127 Concourse CA 8-9021) has
donated as door prizes, 2 Bonus Books
to Hemisfair which will entitle the win-
ners to free entrance to Pavillions, free
rides, map of Fair and Souvenir Book.
The Agency has also generously do-
nated a stay for two in the Camino
Real Hotel in Mexico City, due to open
in June.
The proceeds from the Donor this
year will all go toward furnishing the
Congregation’s Youth Lounge and
Board Room . . . But at this point
we’re asking to borrow some decora-
tions. If any of you have Black
Wrought Iron Candlebras and/or any
Mexican accessories such as serapes,
pinatas etc. that you would be willing
to loan Sisterhood for the Donor Af-
fair, please call Bebe Cohen, PA 3-
6099 or Fran Friedman MO 5-8240.
(Muchas Gracias)
