Cantor Wagner to Receive
SHALOM AWARD
Members of Congregation Beth
Yeshurun and the Jewish Community
at large, will witness a most meaning-
ful presentation when Cantor George
Wagner becomes the recipient of the
State of Israel Shalom Award in the
Pulaski Rauch Auditorium, Sunday,
October 31, 1971.
The Shalom Award presented through
the Houston Committee for State of
Israel Bonds, is symbolic of Israel’s
desire to bring about permanent peace
in the Middle East. This Award is a
highly significant tribute to Cantor
Wagner, who has been identified with
the cause of Israel throughout his life.
The presentation of the Award will
be made by Senator Lloyd Bentsen,
who will deliver the major address for
this occasion.
Drs. Helen & Samuel Schaffer will
serve as chairmen of the Cantor Wagner
Dinner, and serving with them as co-
chairmen are: John S. Goldberg, Pres.
Congregation Beth Yeshurun; J. J. Hil-
ler, Herbert Laufman, Irving Pozman-
tier . . . vice presidents of the Congrega-
tion; Sam Spain, Secretary-treasurer;
David Barg and Joel Mandel . . . past
presidents. A large Committee of Hosts
has been selected for this festive occa-
sion, and it will be the responsibility of
this committee to form tables for the
dinner.
Toastmaster for the evening will be
Avrohm Wisenberg, and the dinner is
being arranged in cooperation with the
Houston Committee for State of Israel
Bonds, under the General Chairman-
ship of Mr. Harold Turboff. Reserva-
tions will be limited to seating capacity
and should be made immediately by
calling the synagogue office . . . 666-
1881, or the Bond office . . . 666-0227.
The best way that we can express our
love and esteem for Cantor Wagner at
this great moment in his life, is by
purchasing State of Israel Bonds to
assist Israel in her valiant struggle for
survival.
