Rabbi Michael Goldberg Guest Speaker Oct. 28
For the second week in a row, Beth Yeshurunites will have
the opportunity to meet a potential candidate for the post of
assistant rabbi, when Rabbi Michael Goldberg speaks at services
this coming Friday evening, October 28.
Rabbi Goldberg, who is 27 years old, will be ordained this
December at the Jewish Theological Seminary. A native of
Indianapolis, he was an undergraduate at Yale where he receiv-
ed a B.A. in Philosophy and was a Phi Beta Kappa. He has spent
his five years at JTS alternating between the three Seminary
branches: two years at the University of Judaism on the West
Coast, one year in New York, one year in Israel, and then back to
New York for this final year.
In 1976, Rabbi Goldberg, as a student rabbi, served a congre-
gation of 100 families in Atlanta. This past summer, he was
similarly engaged at an Indianapolis synagogue, and on the
death of the congregation’s rabbi, took over all his duties during
the past summer.
All members are requested to be at Beth Yeshurun this week-
end to hear Rabbi Goldberg speak and meet with him following
the services.

Jeffrey Mayper, President Beth Yeshurun Men’s Club,
announces that the next meeting of the club will be Tuesday,
Nov. 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room.
The speaker will be Chaim Cohen, who has recently ar-
rived from Israel to be the new Educational Director of the
synagogue. His subject will be of great interest to parents of
children in the Beth Yeshurun Schools as he will discuss his
plans for the future of the educational system. A business
meeting will follow his remarks and an open forum.
For SURE!
Don’t miss Shabbat, Friday, November 4 - 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Because, for the first time on November 4,
Beth YeSUREun offers you . . .
S . U . R . E .
(Shabbat U Really Enjoy!)
. . . your choice of four different services!
1) Traditional Ma’ariv Service - with a difference! Both
men and women will conduct the service and you’ll
enjoy the Chassidic flavor. In the Berkman Chapel
under the direction of Dr. Dan Musher.
2) Creative Service - a fresh, new approach to Shabbat,
with Irving, Sidney and Laurie Pozmantier leading
the congregation in special readings from modern
and Hebrew literature. In the Mandel-Weiner
Lounge.
3) Regular Conservative Service - for those who like the
familiar words and the favorite music ... the 8 p.m.
service at 6 p.m., conducted by Cantor Wagner with
the Choir in the Kaplan-Weingarten Lounges.
4) ESP - for the young-in-age and the young-at-heart.
The ideal service for full family participation . . .
grandparents, parents, kids, babies. Wine and
challah for everyone. Conducted by Rabbi Segal and
Annette Sondock in the Sanctuary.
