Another nearby extravaganza
is the 74th Annual Natchitoches
(Louisiana) Christmas Festival
of Lights. Activities start the
first weekend in December, with
the lighted barge parade
beginning at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1,
followed by a performance by
Natchitoches native and rising
country music star Trini Triggs.
The following day, will be
the actual Christmas Festival,
beginning with a fun run at 7:30
a.m. More star-studded live
entertainment will begin at
10:30 a.m. and continue all day
and into the night. At 1 p.m.
there will be a Christmas parade.
At 6 p.m. there will be a huge
fireworks show put on by a
professional pyrotechnic
company. It will be entirely
choreographed to Christmas
' music.
Immediately following the
fireworks, Natchitoches will
transform into the "City of
Lights" as more than 300,000
large, old-style colored lights
and 77 set pieces along the Cane
Riyer blaze into life.
