Guinea pigs for food
To North Americans, the very idea
of eating gu*rea pigs may seem
repulsive, yet to some of the world's
poor, meat-starved countries,
they've become an essential source
of protein, reports International
Wildlife magazine. In Peru, where
an estimated 70 million are raised,
guinea pigs fed table scraps and
fresh alfalfa can produce meat more
efficiently than cattle, sheep, pigs or
goats.

chairpersons went as smooth as

they're doing and guarantee you a
fine time. Just you remember to be
generous in your donations so all
their work will be worthwhile to
support the VFD. EMS and Com-

CALENDAR OF EVENTS: Thurs-
day, August 23 - Still time to bring
your goods for the flea market and
bazaar to the Red Barn during the
Thursday afternoon Crafts ’n Cards.
Don't be bashful, just back your
truck up and unload it! Seriously
though, most anything is good at a
flea market: furniture to trinkets.
Just bring it along whife there is still
time to process it! The VFD meets
tonight at 7 p.m. at the Red Barn
Firehouse to keep their skills and
equipment in sharp condition. If you
aren't a member, come along and
see if you’d like to join. There are
about 6 husband and wife teams!
How about that!
