The court counted the cash and se-
curities in the county treasury and .
certified to same under oath as the ;
law requires.
J. W. Bowers, county commission- :
er for precinct 4, reports most of his :
roads In good condition, though some .
need regrading because continuous .
rains had washed down old grades
somewhat. Has built an 86 foot bridge
of 7 bents on East Carancahua and a
60 foot bridge near the Colorado River i
and • had the upper draw bridge on
Trespalacios repainted. Has built 18
culverts 6 to 20 feet long and graded
9 miles new road and regraded 16
miles old road. Has bought 1 grader,
1 plow, and 4 steel drags. Tools now
now on hand, 2 graders, 1 plow, 6 steel
drags and 5 or 6 slips. Road District
No. 4, Midfield, has built 4 miles first-
class road and 3 miles outlet ditches.
That district has bought 1 grader, 2
plows, 6 fresnos and 10 four-horse
eveners complete.
H. M. Sanders, county commissioner
for precinct 3, reports some of his
roads good and some in need of work.
Has graded 11 miles of new road and
.built 4 bridges and 25 or 30 culverts,
and has dragged and repaired the old
roads. Tools now on hand: 3 grad-
ers, 2 plows, 7 drags, 6 slips. Road
District No. 1, Palacios, has on hand
1 gas roller, 1 King grader, 2 plows,
1, drag, 7 fresnos, 7 slips, 1 saw, 1
hammer, 2 wrenches, 4 post augers, 1
wire-stretcher. This district has
graded 40 miles of road, cut 12 to 15
miles outlet ditches running 4 to 20
foot bottoms, made 29 concrete cul-
verts, 35 wood culverts, 18 corrugated
iron pipe culverts, and built' 5 bridges.
W. E. McNabb, county commission-
er for precinct No. 2, built a bridge
over Caney at Gainesmore, one over
Big Boggy on Matagorda-Bay City
road, and moved the iron bridge up
Big Boggy jLo the^l^tpr t^gge bridges
and dirt approaches and bulkheads to
the government draw-bridge over the
Intercoastal Canal and built a house
for the keeper of said bridge, and have
graded several miles of new road and
put in about 20 culverts. One bridge
over Caney is needed and several new
roads. The Watkins road in the Colo-
rado River bottom all washed away,
and all roads in lower Caney bottoms
are in deplorable condition, and I hope
the court will do all it can for the re-
lief of that section of country. Tools
on hand, 2 King graders, 1 old West-
