4-H Food Show Winners
“Hats Off Tb Good Cook-
ing" was the theme for the
1993 District 8 4-H Food Show
held Saturday, December 11 in
Waco. Over 250 4-H members
prepared a recipe and were
asked questions on food prepa-
ration, nutrition and safety by
a panel of judges.
Receiving top awards from
Comanche County were: Sub-
Juniors (Age 9-11) • Main
Dish - Dusty Williams, blue
ribbon; Fruit & Vegetables -
Kate Whitney, blue and 6th
place; Bread & Cereal - Ruth
Johnston, blue ribbon and 4th
place; Nutritious Desserts -
RaeAnn Johnston, blue and
.3rd place.
Juniors (Age 12-13) - Main
Dish - Suzette Haggard, blue
ribbons; Bread & Cereal -
Ann Evans, red ribbons. Se-
niors (Age 14-19) • Nutritious

ribbon and 1st place. Wendi
will be representing District 8
at the State 4-H Food show
held at Thxas A&M University
in June.
Display Presentation Awards
were also presented. This award
was based on quality of pre-
sentation, not taste. Receiv-
ing this special award from
Comanche county were Dusty
Williams and RaeAnn John-
ston.
The Food Show was spon-
sored by Adams Extract Com-
pany, Morrison Milling Com-
pany, and the District 8 Thxas
Association for Family & Com-
munity Education.
