Probably one of the most frustrating things that any of us have ever had to
deal with in the insurance business (besides trying to get the front of our
building rehabbed) is this thing called credit scoring Currently almost all
insurance companies do it. This is where 1 need to distinguish that Goodson
Insurance, Inc is not an insurance company We are an agent for the
companies that we represent, and it is the companies that order the credit
scoring I also need to make sure that you understand, beyond a shadow of a
doubt, that at Goodson Insurance we dislike credit scoring more than all of you
put together
With that said, you are wondering "Just what the heck is a credit score,
anyway?" All I can tell you is that the answer to that question is complicated
to the point that any answer I could give would take more space that I have
available here Which is one way of me telling you that I don't fully
understand it other Your County Extension Agent, Ann Rainey did a good
job of explaining it in her column in the March 20® issue of The Comanche
Chief.
The bottom line is that there have been studies done by folks outside of the
insurance industry that have shown a direct correlation between a poor credit
score and a tendency to have insurance claims So basically all that we can do
as consumers at this point is strive to keep our credit in good standing The
hardest thing for us to deal with has been situations where the credit history
was non-existent, because you choose to pay as you go, and you owe no one
anything yes, those people do exist And it is incredibly unfair when
insurance companies discriminate against those folks
Our goal at Goodson Insurance is to continue to do the best job for you as
we possibly can, even when that job sometimes is not as easy as it use to be,
for any of us and credit scoring has made all of Our lives a little more
complicated

Again, this week, our hearts and
minds are with our military troops
in the Middle East, as well as with
their family and friends here at
home. Since last week, more
young men have been added to
our list of those who are now in
active duty'with the U.S. military,
making it a list of 43 young men
and women from Comanche
County. If there are others who
should be added, please give us a
call here at The Chief, 915/356-

compiled list of names will be
sent to U.S. soldiers at the end of
the month. So far, there are about
