Sheriff officer lieutenant and
detainee killed in car crash
Robert Haley, 67,
Comanche County Sheriff
Office Lieutienant, and Dennis
Eli Edwards, a detainee, both
died in a car wreck Thursday
in Callahan County.
Haley, a sheriff’s
lieutenant, was returning from
the Taylor County Jail to
Comanche with Edwards, age
51, when the wreck occurred.
Haley was driving a police
unit’s Ford Crown Victoria in
the eastbound lane of
Highway 36, ten miles west of

been called the closest Presidential race in history.
With all the votes tabulated, winners for Comanche
County’s 2004 General Election were announced at 10:25
Tuesday evening.
In the Presidential race, Co-
manche Qppnty voters elected
George Bush/Dick Cheney over John
Kerry/John Edwards with a 72% vic-
tory.
In the State Representative Dis-
trict 59 race, Comanche County vot-
ers elected Sid Miller over Rodney
Nauert, 3274 to 1875.
