I pon the call of Food Administra-
tor Carpenter, the retail merchants of
Bay City assembled in the district'
court room on the evening of Hie ttli!
inst., at 8:30 o’clock, and the follow-,
ing proceedings were had:
The purpose of the meeting being!
stated by Mr Carpenter, a round ta- ’
Me discussion by the merchants pres-'
ent (there being a large proportion!
of the merchants present), a motion
was made, duly seconded and carried.,
that the hour of closing Hie stores in j
Bay City, be continued in force, as
heretofore, at 8:30 p. m.
The following resolution was unan-
imously adopted:
“Resolved that the practice of wait-
ing upon people out in the street, in
their automobiles, be discontinued,
but this does not prevent the delivery |
of goods, in the automobile, after the
party’ Ims been in the store and pur-
chased them."
This action was induced by the
shortage of help in the stores, it re-
quiring much more time to watt upon
customers in their cars than it does
in the store.
It is desired by the administrate!
that the public lend their helpful co-
operation to this movement
