TIME SAVER — When making
a lot of potato salad for an event,
chop the onions, celery, pickles,
pimentos, or whatever, also boil the
potatoes and eggs the day before.
Then, on the day when you are
busy with a million things to do, dice
the potatoes and eggs and mix the
salad (And do make enough to have
an extra bowlful to leave at home.)
Annette F., Utica, Mich.
UNCANNY SOLUTION — 1 have
probably spent hours over the years
trying to get the last bit of tomato
paste out of those skinny cans.
My husband was helping with
dinner and 1 was complaining about
the cans. He took it and simply
opened both ends, then pushed the
whole lump of tomato paste through
the can and into the bowl. Sandy H.,

WRINKLES IN PLASTIC — To
remove wrinkles from anything
plastic around your household, such
as tablecloths, shower curtains,
shelf paper, etc., use your hand-held
blow dryer. It does the job quickly
and safely Patty E., Leesburg, Va.
FOR RAINY DAYS — With the
high cost of greeting cards these
days, it used to bother me to throw
them out after having read them. Not
anymore — now we recycle them!
My three- and four-year-old chil-
dren get hours of pleasure on rainy
days cutting out all the pictures from
the cards and then pasting them on
poster paper.
We first cut the poster paper to
greeting card size and, when fin-
ished send the cards to those we
know who have birthdays, anniver-
saries, etc. The children feel so
proud of themselves and, at the
same time, it adds a personal touch.
They love to do these projects and
get joy out of them. Chris R.,

DEAR TESS:
There are many people who are
like you. It’s just that some people
are more sensitive than others to the
suffering around them. It doesn't
mean you're crazy, or that there’s
anything wrong with you You
simply have a lower tolerance level
for those things than others. Don’t
upset yourself further by letting
others’ teasing get to you. You can’t
help the way you are, any more than
they can help the way they are. It's
simply a difference in personalities
However, I would say that if this
just began to happen recently, there
may lie an underlying cause for your
crying. If that's the case, you may
want to seek some help by way of
professional counseling.
Your young child may be able to hold onto a drinking glass better if you
place two tight rubber bands around the glass an inch or so apart. This
makes it easier for little hands to hold.

land was sold in 1928 for $75,250.

DEAR DIANE
I am being sexually harassed at
work by someone in manage
inent. I know the best course of
action would be to report this to
personnel and to follow through
legally, hut I can’t bring myself to
do it. Don't get me wrong. It’s not
that I'm afraid I’ll get fired or
anything. My company has quite a
strict policy on this and wouldn't
hesitate to protect me. It’s just
that 1 happen to know this man’s
wife pretty well. She is very
sweet, and I think it would
destroy her if she found out what
this creep has been up to. I'm
quite sure she suspects nothing
of his hijinks on the job. I just
can't bring myself to destroy her
life. After all, why should she
have to suffer because of her
husband's actions? What else can
I do. short of reporting him, to
get him to leave me alone? He’s
gotten pretty bold lately, and has
taken to cornering me physically
whenever possible.
IN THE MIDDLE
DEAR MIDDLE
I don't know if you’ve tried this,
but I would threaten him with
reporting him. With many people,
this would be enough to stop them.
However, if it doesn't, I don’t see
where you have any choice in the
matter. 1 think your concern for his
wife is touching, but she’s eventually
going to find out what he’s up to at
work, whether it's you who report
him, or someone else. You can't
assume the responsibility for some-
one etoe’s happiness It's not fair to
you at all, and it’s allowing this
two-bit Romeo to get away with
sleazy tactics. Don’t allow yourself
to be victimized any further, and
good luck.

DEAR DIANE:
I don’t know what’s wrong with
me. It seems I cry at the drop of a
hat. I can't even watch a sad
commercial on television without
bursting into tears. It's really
quite embarrassing. The stories
in the newspaper also distress
me. If 1 pass someone in the
street who's down and out, or if I
see a lost dog or cat, I just break
right down, right in the street. I
seem to have no control over
this. To make things worse, my
family and friends tease me
about this endlessly. Why am I
like this? Is there something
wrong with me?
