Donor ’83 - Sisterhood’s Cotton Candy Circus
This year’s Donor Luncheon,, the twenty-first annual such
affair, promises to be a fun event and a sure sell-out well in
advance of the March 15th date. The theme Sisterhood’s Cotton
Candy Circus describes the world of fantasy that awaits each
attendant.
The fabulous style show hosted by Neiman-Marcus will
feature KPRC-TV Anchorman, Ron Stone, as Commentator.
Working as a team with Mr. Stone will be the talented Betty
Hardy, From N-M’s Couture Department, explaining N-M’s
fashion forecast.
SILHOUETTES: Spring’s three dominant shapes are as
clearly defined as architectural drawings. And, they are just as
adaptable and workable. Fitted. Spare. Oversized.
FIFTIES: N-M’s updated vision likes the shaping of the
Fifties. The fit, the polish, the panache all look right, right now.
And somehow the fun and foolishness and frivolity fuel the fever.
Be the siren. Be serene. Choose one, or be both. Hips suggested
with a peplum. Hat and gloves. Cool-calm-collected white collars.
Sweetheart necklines. Plunging decolletage, bare backs. (Do
both!) Hip-swinging starlet sheaths. Bandstand skirts, too. (Don’t
forget the petticoats, please.) Capri pants and polka dots. Ameri-
can graffiti — again a sign of the times.
ACCESSORIES: For the completed look wear a hat (think
of face, shape, overall height, hair). Wear an inches-wider belt —
structure! Wear colored gloves, big button earrings, slick brace-
lets, silver jewelry. Add the shoes — the pivot of proportion. Grab
a new clutch, shoulder a new tote. Individuality accomplished!
Think about over-scaled, clean shapes. Oftentimes geometric.
Don’t shy away from color, especially a lot of blue. Be sure your
wardrobe includes at least one important lace.
The circus luncheon and style show, which is the Sisterhood’s
only fund-raising event of the year, will be held on Tuesday,
March 15th, at 10:30 a.m. at Beth Yeshurun. It is open to the
public. Reservations range from $25 per person to $2,500 for
Israel Bond Donors. Reservation deadline is March 8th. For
information and reservations please contact Annette Sondock
728-1202 or Sue Jacobson 783-3329.
Baby sitting will be available during the luncheon. Reserva-
tions must be made through Fay Rosenthal 774-2322.
