Boys Track Team Takes
5th In Linden-Kildare Relay
The Mt Vernon High School
boys track team captured fifth
place in overall competition in
the Linden Kildare Relays held
Friday, March 18 The team
held two first place honors
three third place trophies one
fifth place and one sixth place
Terry Easley captured both ■
first place honors for the Tigers
as well as one of the third place
honors His third place post
came in the mile run with a
time of 4 49 In the pole vault he
captured first with a vault of 12
feet, and in the high jump
cleared 510" for the first place
trophy The accomplishment in
the high jump set a new Mt
Vernon school record he also
held the old record of 5'6”
Other third place honors
were held by Colin Henry in the

Marshall He had been employ
ed for the City of Marshall since
1953 He was a member of the
Second Baptist Church in
Marshall Rev Tatum was
ordained in 1945 and held
pastorates in Hopkins and
Franklin Counties.
Survivors include his widow
of Marshall, a son, A J Tatum
of Marshall, a daughter, Mrs
Gloria Hoopes of Shreveport.
Louisiana, five sisters. Miss
Odessia Tatum of Marshall.
