KH KLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA
2300 11-5 thought it might be a relief to have
a letter you could read, and having finally got-
ten my typewriter from the repair shop, very proud
to exhibit it's clean face ... for seven fifty they
did everything they could th nk of to t and guar-
anteed it would be like new although . minded
t em it was 14 or 15 years old) ... it still does
not hold the paper quite tight .enough, but maybe
i'll have time to take it by, and get that adjusted
... after i scribbled you the note in jackson, we
waited for the last straglers til 0100 before tak-
ing off in tarfu ... it was a big old douglas this
time and we had a little extra room and a lieutenant
and i shared a parachute for a pillow, our sheepskin
flying jackets for cover and slept, head to head on
the tin bucket seats ... i must have been pretty
tired because i didn't wake til we'd landed ... the
next day we had the whole day off, and aside from
* trying to get an a t 6 check (and not succeeding be-
cause they didn't have one i could use) i didn't do
anything ... this morning we had orders at 0800,
bobby and nancy and i on a flight to pick up a pt19
at ballanger tex, take to jackson, pick up a steer-
man there and deliver to sweetwater e. although i'm
just a little bored with primary trainers, we were
excited to death to at last be together, particularly
delivering ships to sweetwater .. tarfu took us to
ballanger and our old c o (macconnel) is in charge
there, and he took us to lunch ... we came back to
dallas and rushed fiendishly to get our clearance and
make shreveport tonight ... were in our ships all set
to go, when an awkward gas attendant stepped through
my wing .-- had to turn in a report to control that
the ship wouldn't be ready til sunday noon, so they
took me off the flight ... made us all so sad ... will
probably put me on other orders tomorrow, but there
goes my chance to go with bobby ... marion just dashed
in for 20 minutes between airlines *. she has been
ferrying old worn out bts from randolph to gulfport,
back again, to wichita, back again, and to gulfport .
