BERTHA OORBELL HOSTESS
TO JUST SEW CLUB
The Just Sew Club met with Ber-
tha Corbell Monday night. Mar. 5.
After a short business meeting Bin-
go was plaved and prises given.
Bertha and Nettie Pittman en-
tertained with several songs, “Be-
yond the Sunset,” “It is no Secret,”
“Farther Along.” Then the group
all joined in.
Members present were Addie Al-
exander, Lillian Bnchan, Kffie Pell,
Ruth Miears, Bessie Alexander, Re-
gina Whaley, Beulah Robinett,
Nettie Pittman, Goldie Jones, Evia
Spivy, Marv Winkles, Bertha Cor-
bel), Goldin Mae Keith, Leola Keith,
Bernice Ross, Irene Hodges, Are-
tha Kinnard, Opal Heath and Mrs.
Lizzie Singleton, a guest.
Refreshments consisted of chick-
en salad sandwiches, potato chips,
olives, cookies, mints, fruit punch,
with cherries.
The next meeting will be Monday
night, March 19 at Opal Heaths’
MISS FULLER HONORED
WITH BRIDAL SHOWER
Miss Delma Fuller was honored
Thursday evening with a bridal
shower at the home of Mrs. De
Lovn Singleton from 7:00 until 9:00
o’clock.
The hostesses were Mines. Single-
ton, Ed Logan, Leland Hood, A.
T. Nabors, and Miss Rita Ishamx
On arriving the guests were greet-
ed by Mrs. Singleton w’ho present-
ed them to the receiving line, Mrs.
D. D. Fuller, mother of the bride-
elected, the honoree, Mmes. Howard
Short, A. J. Crittenden and Cecil
Short.

guests in a beautiful bride's book. I

yellow was) carried out in the deco-
rations of daffodils and ivy.

pedestal of sea foam, surrounded
by daffodils and ivy. The serving
table was laid with a light green
linen cloth with a flower arrange-
ment of daffodils and ivy in crystal
container, as a center piece. From
this, Mrs. Nabors and Miss Isham
■served delicious yellow punch and
cake squares in yellow and white
Mrs. Hood showed the lovely dis-
play of gifts.

MRS. KERBY HOSTESS

_ Members of the T.E.Ia Sunday
School Class of the Baptist Church
met for their monthly social Fri-
day evening in the lovely home of
Mrs. Elmon Kerby. Mrs. C. B.
Miears had charge of the program.
The class teacher, Mrs. Jim Duncan.

scripture “The Parable of the Tal-
ents."
Class president, Mrs. Pearl Snead,
presided over the business session.
Reports from sick members were
given. At this time the living room
was turned into a doctors clinic
and surgery. Mrs. O. A. Jones was
head of surgery as Dr. Quack, and
Mrs. Velma Sparks, his special
nurse assistant. This caused lots of
fun. and these specialists were
praised for their efficiency.
Gifts were distributed to Sun-
shine friends. A plate of delicious
home made cake and ice cream, top-
ped with cherries and “Pink Pills
for Pale People,” Candy Capsules
“To make women talk more,” big
candy tablets to increase your
weight. Even old “Hadacol" was
there in a big way.
All went home laughing with a
fever thermometer in their mouth
which was a peppermint stick of
candy. Easter chickens were given
as favors. There were 24 mem-
bers present.

INITIATION CEREMONIES TO
EPSILON SIGMA CHAPTER
The Epsilon Sigma Chapter of
tile Epsilon Sigma Alpha Int., met
in the home of Sidney Scales Fri-

Mentora Charter, a pledge, re-
ceived her jewel pin in a lovely
candle lighted ceremony. She now
has completed her pledge service,
of six months, and passed her ex-
amination.
Four new pledges, Ix>u Fredeking,
Leta Glazier, LaVerne Campbell
and Lucille Welch, received their
pledge pins in a candle lighted cer-
emony for new members. In six
months the pledge pins will be
changed for the jeweled pins.
Following the ceremonies, dinner
was served buffet style from the
dining table. The table was beau-
tiful with a white linen cloth, yel-
low jonquils in a cut glass center
piece and candles lighted at the
ends.
Delicious dishes of fried chicken,
creamed new potatoes, asparagus
tips in cheese sauce, gravy, pickles,
olives, tomatoes, celery, lemon ice
box pie and coffee, we^e on the
table.

Helm, Rosemary Scott, Frances
Guirin^ Lydia Terrill, Mildred Cara-
way, Margaret Campbell, Freida
Hicks, Jo Ann Boswell, Betty E.
Terrill, Mentora Carter, Lou Fred-

La Verne Campbell, Charlene Mil-
ler, Louise Tucker and hostess, Sid-
ney Scales.

GARDEN CLUB DINNER
A BIG SUCCESS
The Garden Club gave a turkey
dinner Monday of this week at the
Masonic Lodge dining room which
was well patronized. This under-
taking is to raise money for fencing
and oilier work on the cemetery
and the dub is to be commended
for this effort. These ladies donate
their work and give all the profits
to the cemetery fund. They serve
a dinner well worth the money and
may make this one feature of the
1 Trades Day Monday.
Mrs.’ Eula Gillock, district su-
pervisor of the Rebekah Lodge,
held a school of instruction Tues-
day evening. March 18 at the local
Hall. This was her official visit
to her home lodge.
The De Leon Lodge exemplified
the opening march and open cere-
monies in a grand style.
Mrs. Gillock made an interest-
ing talk on the work In all its
phases, emphasizing the beauty of
the work andl the aim of lodge in
Its charitable work.
De Leon Lodge is still known
over the State for its thoroughness
in exemplifying the work of the
lodge. The tennis have gone to
Brownwood, Abilene, Stephenville,
Eastland and many other towns
where they were enthusiastically
received. Mineral Wells visitors
were present Tuesday evening.
Delicious refreshments of sand-
wiches, coffee, cakes, pies and oth-
er good eats closed this delightful
and inspirational meeting.

The Ruth Sunday School Cla«s,
enjoyed' a “42” party at the G. I.
vocational building Mondav even-
ing. March 12 at 7:30 o’clock.

rendered by the first grades. Mrs.
Bowden presented her rythm band
in two numbers: “Pop Goes the
Weasel” nnd “On the Way to
School.” ,
Billy Wayne Smith and ?\nne
Locke gave a one-act playlet en-
titled “Dolly Has the Flu.”
Mrs. Moore’s class gave a pa-
triotic program which included the
pledge to the flag. All repeated the
poem of “Flag of Many Ijtnds.”
Deanna Welch gave a patriotic
poem. A group of children gave a
poem, each using the letters in
•’America.”
They dosed their program by
singing “She’ll Be Coming Around
the Mountain.”
Mrs. Wilson Kirk introduced Mr.
Lyman E. Forrest who brought an
inspiring talk on “Cultivating in
Children a Taste for Good.”
New- officers for the 1951-52 year
were elected: They are President,
Mrs. Robert Guinn; Vice-President,
Mrs. M. D. Fredeking; Secretary,
Mrs. W. T. Bassett; Treasurer, Mrs.
Chas. Christopher.
The room count was won by Mrs.
Bowden’s first grade.
The refreshment committee pre-
pared a most attractive refreshment
plate, featuring the Easter theme.
Cokes and cake with favors of Eas-
ter candies were served.
