MEN’S CLUB
The Men’s Club is having it’s monthly membership meeting
on Sunday morning, January 17, 1988 at 11:00 a.m. in the
Museum of Judaica. Our guest speaker is Rabbi Scott
Rosenberg, Associate Rabbi at Congregation Beth Yeshurun,
who will speak to us on “Jewish Divorce”. Although a somber
and difficult subject, Jewish Divorce was a college course
Rabbi Rosenberg recently completed in New York, and he
brings to us the results of his learning and knowledge on the
subject.
Coffee will be served and we will discuss our newly created
Executive Board and we will go over the final draft of our
Constitution. We hope to see you there.
Please pay your dues for 1987/88, if you have not already
done so. Submit your check to “Congregation Beth Yeshurun
Men’s Club” and send to the synagogue office.
Here’s a wonderful opportunity to help those who
can’t help themselves . . . the street people of Houston,
including many young mothers and thier children.
There’s a cold winter ahead and every piece of clothing
that you can contribute could make the difference
between comfort and misery for some needy person.
1) Rabbi Jack Segal
“How to Answer the
Christian Missionaries”
Rabbi Segal continues with three more of his popular
talks on a subject of vital importance to all Jews, and
most especially, to your children in high school and
college. Get the answers they need to these challenging
questions:
January 20: “Did King David Predict the Crucifixion
of Jesus?”
January 27: “Did Jesus Really Turn the Other
Cheek?”
February 3: “Why Must Jews Always Be on the
Defensive? Why Shouldn’t Christians Have to
Answer OUR Questions?”
2) Dr. Larry Laufman
“Kabbalah:
The Jewish Mystical Tradition”
Kabbalah is a subject many have heard of, but very
few really understand. Here’s your chance to get all the
facts from Dr. Laufman... the history, the concepts, the
influence on us all of Jewish mysticism.
January 20: “Judaism and the Mystic Way”
January 27: “The Mystic Mythos”
February 3: “Mysticism, Meditation, & the Modern Jew”

Year, and you and your family, friends and neighbors
are invited to enjoy each and every one of them free of

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
The synagogue recently instituted a program to
warmly welcome new members to the congregation.
Approximately three doze|n Beth Yeshurun families
volunteered to call the new members and invite them to
Shabbat dinner and services. Each volunteer family
was asked to merely invite one new family for one
Shabbat.
However, we need many more volunteers. If you truly
want to do a mitzvah call Lorraine Horwitz (771-8937) to
volunteer or to get additional information.
Make Beth Yeshurun a warm, caring, and a loving
synagogue. Don’t wait for tomorrow, call Lorraine
today.
