Rachel Rozycki Weisblatt's fabulous troupe of Israeli dancers. At

lively dances.
MUSIC! MUSIC! MUSIC!
What a Happy Way to Celebrate this Happy Day!
SIMCHAT TORAH NIGHT
Monday, October 3 — 7:00 P.M.
A very special evening dedicated to
the Refusenik Jews of Russia.
In Moscow, on the evening of
October 3. thousands of Jews will gather
outside their synagogue to rejoice in
Simchat Torah, taking their chances
with the sharp eyes of the KGB always
on the lookout for Jewish activists. But
in Houston, on that same wonderful
evening, hundreds of Russian Jews now
living in our community will be Beth
Yeshurun's honored guests as they join
us in a show of solidarity for their friends
and kinsmen in the USSR.

little Torahs, as well as holiday flags to wave as the Torahs go passing
by.
After the service, Simchat Torah will continue in the same lively
vein as Rachel Rozycki Weisblatt leads us in our favorite Israeli dances
in the Pulaski-Rauch Auditorium. There'll be refreshments for all and
a chance for everyone to get acquainted with our Jewish friends from
Russia. What a super evening this will be.... don't miss it! Bring your
family, your friends, your neighbors ... the more the merrier, and
merry is the word for Simchat Torah!
As an extra tribute to the theme of
"Shalach Et Ami - Let My People Go”, the first
six hakafot will be dedicated to the Refuse-
niks, and each of our Houston Russians will
be given the honor of carrying a Sefer Torah in
the processions. And two of our favorite
people, Yevgeny and Gallina Genin will
delight us with some ( ’
Russian-Jewish folksongs. As a matter of fact,
this Simchat Torah will be distinguished by
lots of wonderful music, says program coordi-
nator Rabbi Norbert Weinberg. Among the
musical treats will be Cantor Wagner’s
singing of the lovely Yiddish melody, "A
People Without a Home", and Annette
Sondock will sing in English the beautiful
"Mother Russia."
Our seventh hakafah will be dedicated
to the Land of Israel, and Israel’s Consul
General
Mordekhai Artzieli will lead the procession,
carrying a Torah. Naturally, everyone will be
invited to participate in the hakafot... as many
as needed to make sure all congregants will
have a chance to enjoy this traditional way of
celebration. For the kids there’ll be 35 "big”
