the 31st day of a child’s
life he should be re-
deemed from a Kohen if
that child is the first
born of his mother, if his
father is a Yisra’el and
not a Kohen or Layvee, if
his mother is the daughter

LUNCH, LAW, AND THE BIBLE
Thursday, January 26 at 12 noon
A luncheon - lecture meeting of lawyers and their
friends will be held Thursday, January 26 at 12 noon at
the The Holiday Inn* (Galleria West Loop - 3131 West
Loop South). The cost is $10 for the luncheon and entire
program (parking is free).
Rabbi Jack Segal will speak on “DID JESUS
CONSIDER HIMSELF A JEW OR A CHRISTIAN?”

than Tuesday, January 24th to make your reservation.

previously experienced a miscarriage.
The first born of the Jewish people had been spared
when the Egyptian first born died during the tenth
plague more than 3000 yeas ago just prior to the Jews
leaving Egypt. In order to indicate their indebtedness to
God, the first born were to be redeemed from God’s
“representative,” the Kohanim, by having the parents
give the Kohen 5 silver dollars.
At the January 22 TNT Service Kevin and Rita Simon
will redeem their son Alexander Louis from the Kohen,
Jerry Kaplan.
