• Judaic Fair beautifully blended children’s projects prepared in
the Judaic and secular classes showing common themes of
religious holidays and Israel.
• Writer In The Schools (WITS) Program has proven to be
such a positive enrichment program that it was expanded this
year to a full-year program for 4th and 5th grade students. One
of our student’s works was selected to be read at a city-wide
WITS presentation.
• Beth Hayeled Pre-School’s 50th Birthday (1948 - 98) - Not
only are we blessed to celebrate the 50th birthday of Israel, but
of Beth Hayeled as well! We’re proud to be the oldest Jewish
pre-school in Houston.
• Grade level pairing - This year several of our grade levels
paired together on various projects. We hope to do more
pairing of Day School and Pre-School classes next year.
As we plan for 1998-99, we will be implementing our
technology plan for Beth Yeshurun Day School. We intend to have
our children on the Internet and will be purchasing new computers
toward this goal.
Have a wonderful summer and I’ll see you August 19.
By Principal Mindy Rosenthal, M.Ed.

Day Schools Ye ar-In-Re view
The students, parents, and teachers of Beth Yeshurun Day
Schools have many accomplishments to celebrate as we complete
our 1997-98 academic school year. As principal of the two schools,
I would like to share with you the following:
• Congratulations to our 31 graduating 5th graders. Their Friday
night graduation service and cantata, echoed the theme of the
50th anniversary of Israel. We wish each and every one of you
a smooth transition into middle school and hope you will stay
in touch with us to let us know how you are doing!
• Mazel Tov to all our kindergarten through fourth grade
students for all of your hard work throughout the year. Your
many accomplishments were recognized at the Awards
Ceremony on the last day of school.
• Young Authors’ Day, which rewards children’s creative
writing efforts, was our most successful to date. The children’s
writing samples were exceptional, the authors were entertaining
as well as very informative, and the parental involvement was
beyond compare. With this kind of turn-out one can see why
an author like Bill Crider would dedicate a book to the students
of our school.
