Church of Christ plans open house
Hie Church of Christ will hold an open house Sunday, Nov. 3. Dr. Owen
Costgrove, a former pastor for five years, will be guest speaker.
Dr. Costgrove was pastoral the Church of Christ in Krum about 14
years ago. The open house will be held during the morning services.

larger than life, but believable Texas (haracters. In Defense of Judges"
from Oxyn Mass Market and "The Man Offide" from Dutton Hardcover are
his current releases.
Ered Koger of Dallas has written about his wartime experiences as a
bombardier in a Bl7. His book titled Countdown: 35 Missions Against
Nazi Germany" is an honest qnd insightful book about air combat in World
War II.
Karen Leabo ol Dallas is the au’hor ol eight published books from
Silhouette. "Lindy and the Diw" is he: current, and tnree arc set for release
in 1992. "Unearthly Delights," based on her experiences on an
archaeological digging in Central America, is set for release in, April 1992.
Jim Marrs of Springtown is the author of 'Crosslire, a'book on the
JEK assassination that was used as a basis of the Oliver Stone movie filmed
in Dallas last spring. Mr. Marrs is a teacher, newspaper repor ter and group
speaker.
Laura Parker of Plano is the author of 16 published books in the
historical and contemporary genres. "For Love's Sake Only" is set in a
flaunted manor house and combines the charm of the Regency Period with
the humorous atmosphere of Topper," and is the first of a forthcoming
trilogy.
Fayrene Preston of Plano has written 29 published books,
contemporary and historical sets and series from Loveswept books. Ms.
Preston has won many awards and has written best sellers. 'Hie l-ady in
Red" and "Swan Sea: Trie Destiny" are the current releases.
Carol Proctor of Fort Worth is the author of three Regency novels. "A
Dashing Window" from Signet, her current release, is a comedy of manners
and a missing husband.
Deborah Rather, who goes by Arlene James, of Lake Dallas is the
author if 26 published books and a special project forthcoming from
Silhouette. "Gold Digger" is her recent release.
Mona Sizer, who goes by Deana James, of Dallas is an English teacher
and author of 13 published books, best sellers and award winners set in
medieval to early Texas time periods. "Speak Only U>vc" is set in Regency
England and has a heroine who cannot speak.
G. Clifton Wisler of Plano, a school teacher and worker with Boy
Scouts of America, has written 43 western and science fiction books.

B. Dalton s Bookseller in Golden Triangle Mall in Denton is hosting
Book Lover’s Day Saturday, Nov. 2. The special day will be an open house
for 16 area authors who will be in the store beginning at 2 p.m. to visit with
piring authors. The authors are listed below.
11 of Flower Mound is a school teacher and author of three
Regency books and "Valentine's Day Ball published by Zebra. It is a story of
a magic night that changed lives.
Betty Brooks of Mineral Wells is th? author of nine historical Indian
westerns, best sellers and award winners. "Heart of Mountain" is her
current release. "Comanche Passion," to be released in April of 1992, is th<
second of a Comanche trilogy forthcoming from Zebra.
Lillian Stewart Carl ofCarrollton began writing in the fantasy genre
with four releases form 1985 to 1989. Ashes to Ashes" and Dust to Dust"
are mainstream fiction.
Judy Christenberry, a Plano school teacher, is the author of eight
published Regency <lnd contemporary books, some written under the pen
name Judith Stafford, for live publishers. Ms. Christenberry will sign
copies of Cupid and the Vicar" from Harlequin Regency.
Mary Ben Crctenoid, who also goes by Mary Ben Ixruis, of Dallas, a
former English teacher, has been writing for 50 years. "Dark Windows," a
Zebra release, is the first published work after 23 rejections from this
determined 72 year-old author. A second book is in progress.
Sherry DeBordc, who also goes by Kristal Ix-igh Scott, is a

Blanche Dodd of Krum and
Richard Harper Garrison were
recognized as some of the oldest
' longtime members of the Krum
United Methodist Church on
Sunday, Oct. 6. Mrs. Dodd moved to
Krum in 1941 and joined the United
Methodist Church in 1942. She has
four children.
Mrs. Dodd stays active in the
community and church organ-
izations. Sne has served in the choir
35 years and she has been a greeter
on Sundays. She also was appointed
as chairperson for Sharing and
Caring for the senior citizens of
Krum, and she is working as a part-
time library aide at the Krum Public
Library on the Green Thumb
Program, a federally-funded pro-
gram.
Garrison. 82, was born and
raised in Krum, and he has been a
member of the church for 73 years.
He lives on the same lot in mobile
home that he and his brother moved
into after the original home place
where he was born and raised
burned down years ago.
Garrison fs very dedicated to
the church, and he applies his
services in any way needed. He was
song leader for 25 years, and he was
Sunday School Superintendent for
20 years. He also has agreed to be the
church's pianist when the church
needs him.
He can often be found lending
his helping hand to serve the senior
citizens during Sharing and Caring.
Both Mrs. Dodd and Garrison
were recognized with their names
engraved on a gold plate and placed
on a plaque that will be hung at the
church.

The PTA sponsors are inviting everyone to the Halloween Carnival on
Friday. Oct 25 at the Krum Middle' School cafetorium from 6 p.m. to 8:30
p.m. The lrI A also will be serving hot dogs and drinks from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
for supper.
lire PTA would like to see all of the little ones in their costumes while
they are enjoying the evening fun. Planned are many fun filled games and
cake walks, along with many other attractions. People are urged to bring
their whole family and join in on the fun.
Anyone interested in setting up a booth should contact Delynn Crick at
