the membership committee,
discussed membership
numbers for the upcoming
months. She said the
Chamber acquired four new
members in January and one
new member so far this
month.. Eighteen
membership renewals are
scheduled for March.
Flelssner said she wanted
people in the community to
know they need not be a
member of the Chamber to
participate In Chamber
activities.
Bill Hood said the Lake
Ray Roberts Chamber of
Commerce will meet at the
Sanger Chamber Feb. 17 at 7
p.m. to discuss the erosion
problem. Members of that
Chamber will attend a
meeting Feb. 18 to discuss
the problem with the Army
Corps of Engineers.
Hood also gave a report
on the "set back" thermostats
the Chamber may purchase.
He said he feels the units are
a good Investment because of
the money they will save the
Chamber. "It's going to pay
for itself," he said.
Margaret Long discussed
the posslbllty of a new
service to businesses In the
community. She said she
would like to see the
Chamber help businesses
during times of crisis. For
example, if a small business
employee has to tend to a
family emergency, the
Chamber would send Karen
Lambert to "fill the gap"
temporarily so the business
would not have to close.
"This Is one small thing we
could do," Long said. She said
the service would be offered
on a limited basis, .and the
Chamber Board would decide
If a business was in a crisis
that qualified for the service.
She said If anyone has a
problem they should "...call
and let us know so we can see
what we can do.”
The next Chamber Board
Director meeting is
scheduled for March 2 at
noon.

The Sanger Area
Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors met Feb. 2
to discuss upcoming events
for 1993.
After accepting the
minutes and accounts
payable/receivable for
January, the board heard
committee reports.
Though Debbie Spindle
was unable to attend the
meeting to present her report
on the Chamber Awards
Reception. the board
discussed the details of the
event.
Beverly Howard
explained the criteria for the
Silver Service Award, saying
the recipient must be
someone who is an example
and helps make Sanger
"Someplace Special." She
said the award is not to be
associated with the Citizen
of the Year award, but that it
could be awarded to someone
nominated for the award.
She also said the recipient
does not have to be a
business person in the
community.
President Margaret Long
said she feels criteria should
be set for the other Chamber
awards so that the winner is
not determined by "a
popularity contest." "A lot of
people get passed over simply
because the criteria are not
there," Long said.
Stacie Test said the
rabies clinic will be held
March 27 from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. and that the next
quarterly mixer will be held
March 11 from 5-7 p.m. at
the Chamber office. It will be
sponsored by Denton County
Electric Co-op.

tournament will consist of
40 two-person teams. He said
donations for door prizes
such as gift certificates from
