who will be standing at CCC

The name of the event
has changed, but spectators
can expect the same exciting
world-class action at this
year's third annual George
Tyler Memorial Matched
Calf Roping set for October 2-
3 at the Cooke County
College Equine Center
outdoor arena. The finals on
Sunday will also feature
open and youth class barrel
racing, and proceeds go to a
special equine student
scholarship fund.
All persons Interested in
seeing how it's done by some
of the very best two-legged
and four-legged athletes in
the equine world are
encouraged to attend. Gate
admission each day of the
two-day event at the CCC
Equine Center gate is $4 for
adults, $2 for students and
free for children 12 and
under.
Headed by names such as
Bobby Lewis, nationally
known trainer for Carol
Rose Quarter Horses, and
many-time champion
Robbie Shroeder of
Gainesville, the lineup of
competitors reads like a
who’s who of the country's
finest trainers and
exhibitors. In all, the field
will include 16 of the very
best ropers representing all
the major breed
associations, from the
American Quarter Horse
Association to the American
Paint Horse and Apaloosa
Horse Associations.
"There are no world
championships on the line
here, not even any prize
money," said Terry
worth Livestock Show for 25

The George Tyler
Memorial Equine
Technology Scholarship
Fund provides need-based
grants-in-aid to assist Cooke
County College students in
obtaining the education and
training they need to pursue
careers in the equine
industry.
"We also welcome
donations to this fund from
persons who share our
students' passion for horses."
McCutcheon said. "Such gifts
arc taxdeductible, and they
can make a really positive
difference in the lives ot
students who may not lie able
to realize their dreams of a
horse related career because
of difficulty in meeting
college expenses."
The first round of the
matched roping, featuring 16
ropers going head to head,
will begin at 1:00 p.m. The
finals on Sunday will get
underway at 1:30 p.m. and
barrel racers should have
entry fees paid and be ready
to run by 2:30 p.m.
Concessions will be
available, and spectators are
reminded again to bring
lawn chairs.
The CCC Equine Center is
located on Bonner Road, a
quarter mile northwest of
breeder and trainer and the CCC main campus on SH
