In a shallow dish, combine
the Italian dressing, curry pow-
der, cardamom and hot pepper
flakes. Add the shrimp, turning
to coat completely. Cover and
refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes.
Add the bell pepper, scallions,
pineapple and melon to the
shrimp, tossing to coat the veg-
etables with the marinade.
Thread the shrimp, fruit
and vegetables onto 4 large
(about 12”) metal skewers
(placing some of each onto
each skewer, beginning and
ending with fruit), or thread
onto small bamboo skewers
that have been soaked 30 min-
utes in water (placing one
each of the shrimp, vegetables,
and fruit on each skewer).
Grill over medium coals,
turning the skewers once, until
the shrimp are opaque and the
vegetables and fruit are soft-
ened, about 4 to 6 minutes.

Great Grilling For The Holidays
“Holidays are the per-
fect time for friendly get-togethers
and good food,” says cookbook
author Melanie Barnard. As a
grilling and entertaining expert,
Barnard eagerly recommends
grilling quick and easy recipes to
add a tasty and festive touch to
holiday parties. Living in New
England Fnay require that she broil
an occasional dish when weather
becomes severe, but Barnard
rarely puts away her grill.
To liven up a winter holiday
party, Barnard serves traditional
turkey and ham with a platter of
grilled shrimp kebabs.
Why kebabs? Everyone loves
shrimp, says Barnard, and
kebabs look festive. Easy to eat,
they can be prepared ahead of
time, and guests can help grill
them. Also, the irresistible aroma
of grilled shrimp can add excite-
ment to any party.
Using a perfectly-blended
marinade such as bottled Italian
dres'sing can be the secret to
great holiday grilling, making
kebabs the easiest part of your
holiday preparations.

Eckert Hyundai of Denton recently announced that the 1997 Elantra has been named a
"Best Buy" by Consumers Digest magazine. The award, presented annually, identifies vehicles
that the magazine’s editors believe merit special attention from consumers for offering the best
features for the best price.
With a circulation of more than one million readers, the highly respected bi-monthly
consumer magazine has been published for more than 35 years. The Best Buys in 1997
automobiles appear in the Consumers Digest Annual Buying Guide in the
November/December issue.
"This award validates what we have been saying about the excellent value Hyundai
vehicles offer," explained Hyundai President and Chief Executive Officer Y.I. Lee. “Our current
products deliver great styling, technological advancement, quality and affordability to the
American consumer. It is an honor to have Consumers Digest confirm this."
Among five vehicles selected in the small car segment, the Elantra is deemed to provide a
“surprisingly good" driving experience. In addition, the magazine states that the Elantra is
both attractive and affordable. As well as naming the Elantra a Best Buy. the magazine also
acknowledged the company’s efforts to improve both production quality and consumer
satisfaction at the dealership level.
