something needful missing?

REVIEW, OR PREVIEW?
The year 1953 will go down in history as an eventful and memor-
able one for Texas Lutheran College. It has been a year not without
sorrows and disappointments, yet filled with a full measure of the
bountiful mercy and love of God. It has been a year of grace and
opportunity.
For Texas Lutheran College, the year 1953 has seen the beginning
of construction of the Chapel of the Abiding Presence. It has seen
the resignation of a beloved president who has given twenty five years
of his life to the growth and development of Texas Lutheran College,
and the calling of a new president, a devoted Christian layman, a man
sincerely interested in the welfare of Texas Lutheran College. The
year 1953 has brought the admission of Texas Lutheran College into
the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Coupled
with these things have been many events of lesser importance which
have their significance also.
This month of the new year has been eventful — we have lost
a president and gained one. Our new president will face tasks and
decisions in the years to come through which only faith and prayer
can lead him. Let each of us pray for him, and with him, for the
furtherance of God’s work at Texas Lutheran College.
“O Holy Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ: We thank Thee for William Corkish, student pastor

the students, what will be needful?
We as a student body are praised for our fine spirit of coopera-
tiveness. This spirit we wish to maintain and help grow in the new
year before us. What must we needfully emphasize?
If we but think back to the festive occasion of Christmas, the
answer to our posed questions will be suggested. It is during this sea-
son that we are especially reminded of the all excelling love of God,
the Father, in sending us His Son, our Savior. Against the back-
ground of this divine love, we can, and must, show love one to an-
