A new resident from back East
moved into one of the upstate
counties and one day stopped at
the courthouse to register. “How
long must a man live here before
he can vote?” he asked.
The politico at the desk looked
him up and down and asked:
"Which ticket?”

“Like men, of course.”
"Oh, that’s too bad,” said the

For the party davs ahead, this captivating pair of gold-
touched party dresses by Cinderella! Left, “Princess,”
a charming two-piece cotton fashion with the blouse
striped in gold, the full gathered skirt in a fascinating
new sculptured cotton that’s wrinkle and spot resistant,
easy-to-iron. Right, “Melanie,” in an unusual shadow-
ribbed glazed cotton that keeps its shimmer and sheen
through repeated washings ... is trimmed with gold-
pencil stripes.

, the Council at its meeting on
Nov. 13. The increase to the

[ by H M Hignight of Bogata,
sub-district manager for the gas
company. He stated that similar
rate revisions have been sought
, throughout Lone Star’s operating
territory in Texas and Oklahoma.
| Mr. Hignight expressed appre-

that the "new rate makes it pos-

tain our standard of service on
the plane desired and expected
by our customers.”
Hignight emphasized that resi-

charged by Lone Star have not

the last twenty-five years, but,
i conversely, the rates were reduc-

fe< t in May, 1942 He said the
new rate here is only three cents
