Usually few and localized but they
occasionally spread. The dlstresa is
frequently associated with infec-
tious diseases, such as pneumonia,
malaria and cerebro-kpinql menin-

per cent of.these diseases.
To- the young folks, to whom
looks are paramount, even one
fevS blister is a tragedy. Some
persons do not develop them ex-
cept when severely ill. But a vast
number of pebble are subject to
attacks on the least provocation.
They starr with a feeling of
burning tenseness and some itch-
ing. On inspection the surface is
puffy and tender: scion little pin-
head blisters begin to appeal*—
only a few. but more soon develop

It Is a serious matter to the in-
dividual. The eruption attacks I lie. '
nerve ends and the pain is. often
quite acute. Arsenic or other.ttefve ,
sedatives are sometimes required
by tile super-sensitive individual
The treatment )s first preventa-
tive. An attack ean be .aborted by
the ingestion of. 10'grains of “qui-
nine at the first slgit. followed by
10 to 20 grains more Hid next day.
This cannot stop It ut once. Any
one who Is subject to these dis-
tressing sores should take three or
four grains of qblnlnc a day dur-
ing the changes of seasons to over-
come the tendency to colds
When the blisters accompany
other systemic disturbances qul- >
nine should be added to the other
medication. Locally, if seen early,
painting the Inflamed surface- with"' >
collodion, four or five coats and
allowing it Xo dry» is most helptul ;
and'relleves the pain. It should be
applied beyond the apparent ex-
tent of the eruption. This dries tTie
