William Carlos Ligon, 58, died
Tuesday morning, Dec. 24, 1985, at
his residence in Aransas Pass.
He had lived in Portland for 11
years prior to moving to Aransas
Pass four months ago. He was a ship
pilot for Aransas Pass and Corpus
Christi Pilot Association. He was a
member of the Church of Christ in
Portland.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby
Ligon of Aransas Pass; two sons,
Carlos Wayne Ligon and William
ALPHA UPSILON PI member Nina Billington presents a Nueces
County Welfare Agency representative with gifts for distribution to
elderly citizens in the Corpus Christi area. Gifts were contributed by
members of the sorority as part of the chapter's Christmas ways and
means project.

homeowner was out of town, police
said.

collectively valued at $1,100 were
stolen from a home in the 1800 block
of Portland Drive last week, police
said.

Taft Cemetery.

Patrick Sean Bell, 23, of Denton,
died Saturday, Dec. 28,1985, follow-
ing a brief illness.
He was a student at North Texas
State University and a member and
past officer of Kappa Sig Fraternity.
He is survived by his parents,
Roberta Bell of Portland and
Richard Bell of Houston; a sister,
Margaret Aldine Moore of Houston;
and a brother, Richard Bell Jr. of
Hawaii.

responded to three minor accidents
and 15 alarms and made six am-
bulance calls and 25 arrests: Drunk
in public, 12; DWI, three; traffic,
one; warrants, five; burglary, two;
and miscellaneous, two.
Officers responded to 281 calls and
issued 55 citations and complaints:
Assault, one; burglaries, 15; distur-
bances, 13; fire, five; humane, 16;
miscellaneous, 137; prowler, eight;
theft, 12; and vandalism, 11.

Responding To Complaints
Police Make Arrests
Portland police arrested several
persons on charges of public intox-
ication and criminal mischief after
responding to complaints of a distur-
bance in the 1700 block of Denver.
Officers said when they arrived at
the scene, several men were fighting
in,the street and one subject kicked
and dented a police vehicle.
The four men arrested, none of
them Portland residents, all failed
sobriety tests, reports indicated.
An unknown number of Christmas
presents were stolen from a home in
the 2000 block of Memorial on Dec.
22 or 23, police said. Officers said the
homeowner was out of town at the
time of the theft, which was
discovered by a family member who
routinely checked the house.
Officers also are investigating the
theft of a Honda motorcycle from
the 13th hole of the Northshore Golf
Course.
According to police reports, the
victim left his motorcycle on the golf
course while he went hunting near
the Reynolds plant on Dec. 19.
A porcelain cabbage patch doll
was reported stolen from Wishing
Well in Northshore Shopping Plaza
sometime Dec. 18, police said.
The doll, named Georgia Dee and
wearing a red dress, red shoes and
blonde hair, was taken from the
store’s display case.
A bicycle stolen from a residence
in the 1800 block of Dolphin early
Dec. 17 was recovered later that day
at G-PJH, police reported.
Officers speculate tjiat some stu-
dent took the bike so he or she would
not have to walk to school in the rain.
A 19-inch color TV was reported
stolen from the Motel 11 sometime
Dec. 17 or 18.
Assorted tools valued at $150 were
stolen from a pickup truck parked in
the 1600 block of Dallas on Dec. 18,
police said.
A 25-year-old Portalnd man was
arrested on charges of public intox-
ication after officers responded to
complaints of a family fight on Dec.
18, police said.
