A nytime you’re launching your boat or transporting it over land,
check carefully to make sure you avoid all electrical facilities.
Metal sailboat masts, outriggers, power boat antennas and other 3
high-rising equipment become deadly conductors of electricity the >1
moment they come in contact with overhead lines. Careless handling
of a boat near a power line can endanger your life—and the lives H
of everyone else nearby.
Play it safe, too, when you’re handling chores around the house.
• Don’t trim or fell trees near power lines. This is work best left to experts
• Keep ladders and other tall devices away from overhead lines.
• Don’t install an outside antenna unless you have the proper knowledge
and equipment; have a qualified technician handle the job.
And remember that fallen power lines are extremely dangerous
If you see a downed line, call Central Power and Light Company,
then stay away from the line and keep others away.
