Bobby Scott Dicus
Monica Lyn Cleveland and Bobby
Scott Dicus, both of Austin, were
united in matrimony at Rose Garden
in Zilker Park, Austin, on Saturday,
Aug. 2, in a noon ceremony. The
Rev. Joseph Phelps performed the
double-ring garden ceremony.
The parents of the bride are Bar-
bara Cleveland of Austin and Wayne
Cleveland of Round Rock. The
groom’s parents are Monique and
Kent Anderson of Jonestown.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore an ivory lace tea-
length dress featuring a large hand-
embroidered bib collar. A fitted
waist was accented with a satin
cummerbund and large satin dress-
length bow in the back, which fell in-
to a tapered skirt in the front and
lowered in the back with wide lace
ruffles. She wore a circlet of silk
roses, baby’s breath, lace and satin
ribbons cascading down the back
with bows and greenery. The bride
carried ivory and mauve silk roses,
set in lace and baby’s breath.
Streamers of lover’s knots with
strands of ivory pearls cascading
down finished her ensemble.
For “something old,” the bride
chose her great-grandmother’s anti-
que lace handkerchief, for “new,”
her dress; “borrowed,” was her
mother’s gold and pearl earrings
and “something blue” was the
garter. She also wore the traditional
sixpence in her shoe.
Suzanne Hill of Austin served as
bridesmaid; she wore a mauve tea-
length jersey knit princess dress
with a dipping V neck and cap
sleeves. The skirt was designed with
a tapered-up skirt in the front that
lowered in the back with a wide lace
and jersey ruffle. Her headpiece was
a circlet of mauve roses and baby’s
breath. She carried a bouquet of silk
mauve roses and baby’s breath, with
flowing streamers Of lace and satin
ribbon.
Greg Dicus of Alabama served as
his brother’s best man. Usher was
Heath “Bubba” Cleveland of Austin,
brother of the bride.
The covple was married among a
garden setting of multiple roses and
natural rocks set in a hillside with a
stone path leading down to a sum-
mer gazebo and fish pond.
The bride’s mother chose a royal
blue silk Shantung dress with an
ivory silk corsage.
The groom’s mother wore a white
tuffed knit dress with an ivory silk
rose corsage.
The bride’s three-tiered cake of
mauve and ivory centered the room
featuring a fountain bubbling of pink
champagne with a circling stairway
leading to the top of the cake where
the handmade glassed nosegay of’
silk mauve petite mums and but-
terflies sat.
Ivory and mauve tablecloths,
covered the serving tables of a buf-
fet of hors d’ourves and champagne
punch.
The groom’s cake featured a
chocolate cake which read, “You’ve
Stolen My Heart.”
Janie Alexander and Kathy Mc-
Coy were members of the housepar-
ty.
Glenda Williams presided over the
bride’s book.
The bride chose a yellow and white
polka-dot knit ankle-length sundress
as her going away suit. The bride’s
mother made her a yellow daisy cor-
sage.
After a wedding trip to the Texas
Coast, the couple will make their
home in Austin.
The bride is a 1983 graduate of
Gregory-Portland High School. She
is presently teaching at Gethsemane
Lutheran School of Austin.
The groom is a 1982 graduate of
Lamar Consolidated High School in
Houston. He’s presently attending
Southwest Texas State University in
San Marcos and majoring in
psychology.
A rehearsal dinner was given by
the groom’s family at Candlewick
Club and Pool at Zilker Park
Garden. A barbecue was served.

Mrs. Lisa Floerke was honored
with a baby shower Saturday, Aug.
2, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Floerke.
Hostesses were Brenda Floerke,
Linda Floerke, Brenda Threadgill,
and Linda Watson.
Guests were served banana bread,
cookies, cinnamon rolls, sausage
balls, fruit, punch and coffee.
The hostesses presented Mrs.
Flo.erke with a nursery monitor.
Special guests were Mrs. Angeline
Floerke, Mrs. Mae Creek, and Mrs.

Terri Annette Parker became the
bride of 1st Lt. Jeffrey Douglas
Gardner, USAF, during a double-
ring ceremony Saturday, Aug. 2, at
the First Baptist Church of Alice,
with the Rev. Joe E. Love of-
ficiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Elkins of Alice and
Jim W. Parker of Laredo. The
groom is the son Of Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Gardner of Portland.
Mrs. Parr was the featured
organist and pianist. She was ac-
companied by Mrs. Ginger English.
Mrs. English, the soloist, also sang,
“The Wedding Song,” “We’ve Only
Just Begun” and “Through The
Eyes Of Love.”
White gladiolus and pom chrysan-
themums with areca palms and
ficus trees formed the background of
the altar. Rainbow candelabra
holding white tapers were placed in
the center while two complimenting
candelabra were surrounded with
flower arrangements.
The bride’s mother wore a royal
blue floor-length gown accented with
a flower adorned waist and a cor-
sage of white roses and baby’s
breath.

A reception followed the ceremony
in the Fellowship Hall of the First
Baptist Church. The bride’s table

rangement of driftwood, cactus, a
lariat and spurs.

which extended into a semi-

The bride’s waltz-length English
illusion veil was secured by an
asymetricai lace cap, sprinkled with
iridescents. and seed pearig.
She carried a cascading bouquet
of red Visa roses accented with
baby’s breath.
Sherri Parker, twin sister of the
bride-and maid of honor, wore a
formal-length gown of red matte taf-
feta. The gown featured a princess
make, their home in Great Falls.

The bride is a graduate of Alice
High School and Texas A&M Univer-
sity. She holds a degree in accoun-
ting.
The groom is a graduate of
Gregory-Portland High School and
Texas A&M University. He is a first
lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and
is currently a missile launch officer.
The bride and groom were
honored guests at an open house held
Friday, Aug. 1 at the Captain’s
Quarters of the Sheraton Marina
Hotel in Corpus Christi. The open
house was given by Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Gardner in honor of the couple’s
upcoming marriage.
