Ron was also honored to serve as the
president and member of the board
of governors of the Dallas Estate
Planning Council and as a Certified
Valuation Analyst with the National
Association of Certified Valuation
Analysts. He enjoyed greatly his
tenure as a member/arbitrator
with the American Arbitration
Association. With understated
passion and gentle humility, Ron also
supported many community efforts
that resonated deeply with him.
He served as the chairman of the
Dallas Regional Board of the Anti-
Defamation Eeague; the treasurer,
secretary and chairman of the
Budget/Finance Committee of the
Jewish Community Center; a trustee
for the Jewish Federation of Dallas;
executive chairman of the Jewish
Community Relations Council; and
a member of the board of directors,
as well as vice chairman of the
Finance Committee, for Eegacy
Senior Communities.
While Ron established his career
and family during almost 50 years in
Dallas, he maintained strong roots
in Denver and always treasured
his upbringing, memories and
ties to Colorado. He traveled there
regularly over the years, visiting his
parents, attending milestone events
for relatives and friends, and taking
regular family vacations n the
mountains. He grew up loving the
outdoors and, over the years, shared
his fondness for snow skiing with
his family and his interest in cycling
with his friends. Ron’s quiet presence
and genuine interest in others drew
family and friends close to him. A
keen listener with an empathetic
ear, Ron always made others feel
valued and respected. He lived his
life with integrity in all respects, and
his sound Judgment was a source of
counsel and comfort to many. Ron
was Judicious and observant, and
his sharp memory absorbed the rich
details of his world. Above all, Ron’s
greatest source of pride and Joy was
his family and he was happiest in
their presence. He was a loving and
steadfast husband, a dedicated father
and a proud grandfather.
Ron is survived by his devoted
wife and best friend of 53 years,
Marilyn Fiedelman; daughter Cindy;
son Jeff and his wife Alyssa; brother
Rick and his wife Eileen; and adoring
grandchildren, Ryan and Sophie.
Ron was preceded in death by his
parents, Stuart and Irene Fiedelman.
The family also would like to
thank its caregivers for their support
over the past year. Ron’s life was
celebrated at a memorial service on
Feb. 8 at Temple Emanu-El in Stern
Chapel. If desired, donations to

Feb. 5, 2018, at the age of 79. He
was greatly loved and will be dearly
missed. Ron was born July 21, 1938,
in Denver, Colorado. He graduated
from

where he
graduated in 1960. Ron loved the
rigor and challenges that Wharton
offered, and his affinity for detail and
problem-solving thrived there. Upon
graduation, he returned to Denver
and quickly earned his certified
public accounting license. He began
his accomplished professional career
as a CPA in 1961 with Touche Ross
8c Co. in Denver and transitioned
to the Dallas office in 1969. During
his near 20-year tenure with Touche
Ross, Ron distinguished himself as a
partner and Director of Tax.
In 1980, Ron started his own
accounting firm in Dallas, where
he continued to provide his clients
with unwavering attention and
insightful guidance. In 1986, Ron
merged his expanded practice with
Philip Vogel 8< Co. (now, Carr, Riggs
8c Ingram), and served as a partner
until his retirement last year. Over
the course of his career, Ron shared
his professional insight generously
with his colleagues by serving on
the board of directors, as the Tax
Committee chairman, and the
Dallas Chapter president of the Texas

until the age of 86 — attending and
presenting at conferences, editing,
reviewing and publishing scientific
books and over 115 peer-reviewed
articles and book chapters.
He was a devoted husband,
father and grandfather. He was
married to his soulmate, Harriet,
for 45 years. Between them,
they brought five children to the
marriage: three from his prior
marriage and two from hers. He
loved and treated them all equally.
He was gregarious, witty, quick
with a pun. He never met someone
David Ashby Whiting, M.D., 86,
renowned dermatologist and expert
in alopecia, died peacefully at his
home Feb. 19, 2018, surrounded
by his loving family. Born and
educated in South Africa followed

David qualified
as a medical
doctor at age
22; he and his
family relocated
to Dallas in
1977.

mirrored his personal life with
zest for learning, a quick wit and an
amazing depth of understanding and
intellectual curiosity. As a practicing
dermatologist much loved in the
community, he amassed a sizable
curriculum vitae, and over his
lengthy career achieved international
recognition while earning 10 medical
degrees and qualifications from three
different countries including a Ph.D.
He was an active member of the
medical and academic community

Adams, 89, passed away Feb. 14,
2018. She was born Aug. 1, 1928, to
Celia and Max
Utay in Dallas.
She is survived
by her loving
sister Minnette
Klein and her
children Harold
Goldfaden and
his partner
Allen Dickstein, daughter Celane
Goldfaden and her son, Adam. Rae
is also survived by her two special
nieces Celia Saunders and Melinda
Halsted. She was a longtime member
of Temple Emanu-El and a graduate
of Forest Avenue High School. Rae
was an active member of the State
African Violet Society, a professional
seamstress and owner of Hollywood
Cleaners. Graveside services were
held Feb. 18 at Shearith Israel
Cemetery.

Harlan David Holiner, 89, passed
away peacefully Feb. 14,2018. Harlan
was born Oct. 10,1928, in Oklahoma
City. He Joined the Navy at age 17
and traveled the world as a radio
operator. After his time in the Navy,
he attended Oklahoma University,
where he graduated with a business
degree and met his bride, Ethel.
After college, he enlisted as an officer
in the Army and served his country
in Germany. Harlan worked as a
State Farm Claims Superintendent
for 37 years, retired, and started a
second career repairing computers
and printers for Brookhaven College
for 16 years.
