The last of the "White Stave" cases
came up In federal court Wednesday
morning when judge Maxey sentenced
two defendants who had pleaded guilty
to the charges in their indictments.
Bias Noon was riven a term of six
months in the county jail and Mrs. An-
tonia Rodriguez was sentenced to 60
days in the county jaiL Dominie
Fiera who was found guilty on the
same charge was not sentenced hat

SELECTING A QUEEF
Spirited Contest on for Honor of Rep-
resenflns Las Graces and the Val-
ley at Os-Aplc Jabllee.
A queen is to be selected by the Las
Cruees and Mesiila valley folk for the
Mesilla valley division of the Os-Aple
parade here during the Jubilee.
Voting is now in progress on the
young -women of the valley "who have
been placed In nomination and the
election will be announced on October
19. The one selected as queen will
have a court at the Os-Aple parade and
ball and will appear as Alllsom. queen
of the Valley of Heart's Desire. In the
historical allegorical section of the Os-
Aple parade which will be aevoted to
the upper valley delegation.

The three women Judges who will
act in conjunction with the men judges
of the Os-Aple parade have been
named by the entertainment committee
and are: Mrs. George E. Wallace Mrs.
W. S. Tilton and Miss Mae Lindsay
of Las Cruees. They will assist in
judging the floats during the Os-Aple
parade. The men who will act as
ludges have not been announced and
will not be until after the prlaee are

APPEALS FOR AID
Call Js Made on American Red Crosx
for Financial Assistance and
Trained Nurses.
An appeal for financial assistance
and for trained nurses has been made
by the Greek Red Cross on the Ameri-
can Red Cross society. The 1 Paso
chapter. Red Cross has received the
following telegram from Washington
headquarters of the Red Cross so-
ciety: "The Red Cross is in receipt of a
cablegram from the wife of the min-
ister of foreign affairs of Greece ask-
ing on behalf of the Greek Red Cross
financial assistance and trained nurses
from the American Red Cross. Also
a cablegram from the American am-
bassador at Constantinople asking the
cooperation of the' American Red
Cross with the Red Crescent society.
"President Taft has issued a call for
contributions."
