Telephone Call Opens
Door to York College
in the hands of brethren in York
without cost.
Hershel Dyer and Dale I^rsen
made the telephone call in May,
1954, to inquire about the possibili-
ty of members of the church oper-
ating York College which was
then out of operation. Fourteen
months later after a number of
meetings Harvey Childress, who
had been named first president of
the college, opened the door of
York College.
“A great and effectual door has
been opened to us in York,” Chil-
dress said, "and there are but few
• adversaries.” We pay nothing for
the campus, buildings and virtually
all equipment and furnishings, the
plant cannot be mortgaged, he
commented.
Childress said the only responsi-
bility will be to raise sufficient
funds annually to maintain the
property and operate a good Chris-
tian school "We are not appealing
for dollars to buy ground, brick and
mortar, but only for that amount
necessary to provide complete
Christian teaching program for
boys and girls,” he stated
The church is weak in Nebraska
and weaker still in the states
farther north. From the viewpoint
of man, a college in this great
mission area could not have been
possible for many years to some:
It seems to us that God has
planned otherwise and has made

Needs Assistance
CHARLB8 CITY, Iowa — Wal-
lace R. Blake reports that there
are now three regular families in
the new work here. ‘
Recently Wilson Abernathy, his
wife and daughter moved from
Columbia, Tenn., to Mason City,
25 miles from Charles City and
have joined local work. He di-
rects the song service.
Mason City has a population of
38,000 and Charles City a popula-
tion of 12,000.

both of these
Blake said.
The group needs some help to
finance newspaper and radio ad-
vertising and also help to finance
a building. Blake states he needs
no support.
Between Dec. 27 and Jan. 2
Blake will have some time to meet
with anyone who would help in this
work to explain the work in ge>
eral in this part of the country, he
said.

Visitation Note Suggests ldea
The following excerpt was
"lifted" from the MacGregor Park,
Houston, bulletin:
"The visitation committee re-
ports that they have received cards
that indicated that during the
months of February and March 230
MacGregor Park members were
visited or entertained by other
members for the first time. We
are certain of many more who have
not yet returned their cards. New
cards have been mailed that are
to be turned in by the end of May.
Let’s keep It up. This plan is more
important now than before because
we must get someone for the first
time. This time let It be some-
one with whom you are not so well
acquainted. Make them your
friends by being one of them.”
