the bridge club and club guests with a 1 o’clock luncheon and
afternoon bridge at her home on North High street, Wednes-
day.
The rooms were i

placed throughout the rooms and
arrangements of the flowers cen-
tered the luncheon tables.

A one half mile loop from
Highway 43 into Tatum will be
constructed by the maintainence
division of the highway depart-
ment, according to word received
yesterday by W. E. Youngblood,
county Judge, from Gibb Gil-
christ, state highway engineer.
Total cost of the loop will be
$5,469.
The work will be done by the
state highway department itself
instead of by contractors.

night. Mock Initiation for Miss
Modern took place Saturday night
when members of the organization
gave the neophytes a full appre-
ciation of those things which
membership In a worthy organiza-
tion implies. Formal initiation
took place Monday night in the
society room.
Hlstorlcal-Phila was founded al
Old Independence in 1S83, and
holds the distinction of being
founded by Mrs. Elll Moore Town-

Methodists Will Begi
Training School
On next Sunday afternoon the
first session of the week’s train-
ing school will be held at the lo-
cal Methodist Church. Two very
fine teachers will be the instruc-
tors in the two courses which are
being offered. The Reverend R.
Otis Sory of Mexia will be the
director of the school and will
teach one course, the subject be-
ing: ''Organizing for Christian
Education in the local church.”
Mrs. W. H. Landrum of Tyler
Will be the other teacher in the
school, her course being: "The
World Mission of the Christian
Religion.”
The school is open to our Chris-
tian workers. Teachers and work-
ers from other churches are given
a special invitation by the local
Methodist Church to attend this
school. The school will he free
to the individual workers, with
the exception of the cost of text-
books. The first session will run
from 2:30 to 4:30 oti Sunday af-
ternoon. The remaining sbssidns
of the school will be held from
7-'3O to 9:30 each night from Mon-
day to Friday inclusive.
