By Anne Adami
It looks like a very business-
like smock, doesn’t it'-'—anything’
but like a house dress, and fits
so smoothly—without bulge or
wrinkle, once it's tied in place.
Too it bespeaks efficiency, from
the young, collarless neckline and
short sleeves right down to the
hem, and the housewife who wears
size forty-four will discover a
wealth of slenderness in that
straight, unbelted center panel.
Raglan sleeves tend to trim down
a heavy shoulder, and at the same
time provide a roomy free-action
armhole that’s easy to fit and
stitch. Any of the washable cot-
tons are practical—percale, broad-
cloth and gingham, to mention a
few.
Pattern 2513 is available in sizes
14, 16, 18, 20, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40,
42 and 44. Size 16 takes 3 1-2
yards 36 inch fabric. Illustrated
step-by-step sewing instructions in-
cluded.
Send fifteen cents (15c) in
coins or stamps (coins preferred)
for this Anne Adams pattern
Write plainly name, address and

rics and shows how you can outfit

about American accent as ‘'non-

‘‘Those who have never lived in
America do not always realize
that there are almost as many

KING’S ENGLISH
DIVIDES CRITICS
1 LONDON (UP.—“To twang or
not to twang” is question which
the America-produced Shake-
■peare film, ‘‘Midsummer Night’s
Dream,” is raising in London.
The film had its premiere
London at the Adelphia Theatre,
Oct. 9. Shakespeare “a 1’Ameri-
«dne” has been the rage ever
>ince.
“There is very little of what is
called American accent in the
film," according to Dr. G." B. Har-
rison, Reader in English Litera-
ture at the University of London,
King’s College, and author of
"Shakespeare At Work.”

Widow Spider and Katydid Duel
to Death.
THREE RIVERS, Tex., (UP).
-If you raise black widow spiders
as a hobby, don’t attempt to feed
them on katydids, Isaac W. Eaves,
Iliree Rivers school teacher,
warns.
Eaves placed a “tender, green’
katydid in a flask with a black
Widow. The spider immediately
began spinning a web to entangle
her lunch.
| The katydid, however, sniped
the webs and spat at the spider.
During the following night, the
Climax came.
Eaves found the body of the
katydid laying, legless, on the
flask bottom the next morning.
Entangled in her own web was
the lifeless body of the black
♦Mow, with great wounds in its
abdomen.

{'If Shakespeare were to hear
K the sentence, ‘For God’s sake come
off,’ he would recognize it as a
; & classical phrase used by a well-
bred lady in Chaucer. If he heard
of someone ‘firing out’ he would
recognize a line from his own
Sonnets. If someone said he would
‘tell the world’ Shakespeare would
regard it as a tribute to his
‘Twelfth Night,’ argues the pro-
fessor.
If it hasn't done anything else,
the picture has started a contro-
