to officially open the new
building of the Niagara Falls
Church of Christ was held Sun-
day afternoon. Aug. 19, with
over 260 in attendance.
This was the occasion of the
first meeting in the new build-

only one church in the Quad-
City area, having about 25
members meeting in Daven-
port, Iowa. Today there are
churches in Davenport, Moline,
Rock Island (Illinois*, and Mus-
catine, Iowa.
The church in Rock Island
is not yet self-supporting. The
i preacher, G. R. Holtofh^is sup-
i ported by churches in Texas,
Oklahoma. Tennessee and Ken
tucky/ He has been working
I in Rock Island since February
of 1960.
A total attendance of • 703,
representing 20 cities in Western
Illinois and Eastern Iowa, were
present. Total registration was
127 adults.
The training series was unique
in that there are no- elders
within the Quad-City area which
includes Rotk Island. Those at-
tending con) men ted on the edi-
fying effect it had on the
churches in this mission field,

Charlotte, Fla., a fast-growing
retirement community below
Sarasota, now has a congrega-
tion - of - Christ. This -group met—
for the first time Sunday, Sept.
2 with 7 original members.
The congregation is meeting
temporarily in the cafetorium
of Peace River Elementary
School.

Fort Worth has just completed
what is reported by W. D Hil-
lin, associate minister, as 'the
largest youth rally known in the .
brotherhood.”
An entire day of activities
were conducted on Sunday,
Sept. 16, to encourage young
people to dedicate their lives
more fully to Christ.
Jerry Jones from Memphis,
Tenn., was the guest speaker.
Choruses from Christ Haven,
Rosemont. Boles Home, and
Fort Worth Christian College
sang at the rally.
More than 800 were in attend-
ance, with over 45 congrega-
tions represented, from Califor-
ni>a, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ten-
nessee, and Texas.
The congregation plans to
make the youth rally an annual

The new building is situated
on a one acre plot on a main
artery of the city of Niagara
Falls in one of the fastest
growing sections of the city. It

auditorium will scat 154. and a
cry room and two classrooms
at the rear of the auditorium
can be removed in the future
to provide a total seating ca-
pacity of over 250.

Recognition was made of the
many who had helped to make
the building possible with spe-
cial mention being made of the
East Main Street congregation
in Murfreesboro, Tenn . which
has been fully supporting Mer-
ritt in this work and also con-
tributed 13,500 to the building
fund; the North Boulevard con-
gregation in Murfreesboro
which gave $2,500, and the fol
lowing Tennessee congrega-
tions that assisted with various

Undergoes
Surgery

Ted Stewart, missionary in
Brazil, underwent minor sur-
gery for a nasal bone ob-
struction and. tonsillectomy re-
cently in Sao Paulo.
The obstruction had been
an impediment to his health
for some time, cutting off the
oxygen supply just enough to
cause weakness and suscepti-
bility to respiratory diseases.
Stewart is supported in his
work in Brazil by the Central
Church of Christ in Amarillo,
Texas.

struction has begun on a new
church building for the North
Philadelphia congre-
gation, Robert B. Howard re-
ports. The building is to be
complotod by January 1, 1M3,
at a total cost of $31,815.00.

delphia group rrtoved Septem-
ber 1 to Lexington, Maas., to
be preachex^for that congrega-
tion. Perry Kemplin has re-
placed Howard at North Phila-
