TULSA, Okla. — A Bible school attendance
drive among the churches of Christ in the Greater
Tulsa Area will be held Sept. 12.
The date was chosen for several] reasons.
First, public schools will have begun and va-
cations will be over by then. •
Second, it is the weekend following the Labor
Day weekend, so more are expected to remain
home that weekend.
Finally, this date will precede most of the fall
meetings planned by the churches in this area.
The goal set for the cooperating congregations
is 7,100.
According to Dick Marcears, Jr., who was
selected to spearhead the drive, the goals for the

Harper, minister of the Sth and
Lee Church in Lawton, Okla.,
has been selected by the elders
of the Northside Church in Tul-
sa to preach in their upcoming
gospel meeting.
The meeting will be held
Sept. 12-19. Besides the services
each evening at 7:90 pm.,
there win be a morning serv-
ice, Monday through Saturday.
Harper, a native Texan, is
serving the 8th and Lee congre-
gation in Lawton fcr his second
time He labored with them
froh 1951-1955, and then, after
preaching for churches in Hot
Springs, Ark., and Greenville
and Sherman, Tex., he returned
to 8th and Lee in 1963.

Allen for his faithfulness to the

TULSA, Okla. — A meeting
of 75-100 Tuba-area Christiana
who are interested in the fu-
ture development of Abilene
Christian College has been
planned Aug. 91 in Tulsa.
The meeting, which will be

The second unit, featuring a
large sanctuary seating from
1200 to 1500, is scheduled for
construction within three to
four years.
The first unit is to be com-
pleted in January, and with
furnishings and equipment will
cost approximately $218,000.
Construction Begins
TULSA, Okla. - The Park
Plaza church in Tulsa has re-
cently begun construction of its
new church plant. It is situated
on a 5 1-2 acre site on East 51st
Street, in a new, fast-develop-
ing residential section.
The ground breaking service
was conducted on Sunday. July"
25. and construction began im-
mediately.
The first spade of dirt was
turned by Robert M. Alexander,
an elder of the congregation
and veteran gospel preacher
and educator.
The Park Plaza church is two
years old and was organized by
members from several congrc
gations.
Sixty-nine persons were pres-
ent at the Bible classes for the
initial service op July 7, 1963,
and 75 [>ersons attended the
worship.
Since that time the church
has grown to approximately
three times that size while
meeting in an elementary
school building.
Considerable effort went into
producing a master plan for a
church plant that will require a
number of years to complete,
and will represent an invest-
ment of well over a half mil-
lion dollars.

MADILL, Okla. — A series of
meetings, the "Harvest for
Ciuist,” was held in Madill
June 28-July 2.
The evening meetings, featur-
ing Mack Lyon preaching and
Paul Epps leading the singing,
were televised live over KXII
TV „ Channel 12, by remote fa-
cilities.
The effort resulted in 189 re-
quests for correspondence
courses and tracts.
According to Don C. BunneM,
the Madill Church
of Christ, “Many favorable
comments have been received
from the viewing area. A great
number of people who have not
known the truths of the gospel
and have not understood the
teaching of Christians but who
would never come to the build-
ing or inquire about such

Twenty-seven congregations
contributed $2,872 to finance the
work and other congregations
and individuals helped In other
ways.
Congregations contributing fi-
nancially were as follows : Cen-
tral, Maxwell Avenue and
Northeast in Ardmore; Atoka;

Seventh and Beech and North-
west in Durant; Hugo; Kings- •
ton; Lark; Lebanon; Lone
Grove; Mannsville; Madill and
East Side in Madill; Mead;
Oakland; South Side in Pauls
Valtey; Ratliff City; Ravia;
Vinita Avenue in Sulphur;
Tishomingo; Velma; and Win-
dom, Tex.
Some of these same congre-
gations also helped to support
the televised program Aug. 9-13
from Sherman with Jimmy Ad-
en.
