Improved health in Texas towns
and communities is the objective
of the Health Workshop now being
held at Sam Houston elementary
school through the combined co-
operation of Texas State College
for Women and North Texas State
College
Though the 39 teachers and
hiMlth educators enrolled in the
workshop, the three-year school
and community health program
set up by the Kellogg Foundation
•will be launched
These teachers, under the guid-
ance ot Dr Mary Agnes Murphy
and Dr Rhea Williams. T8CW and
NTSC coordinators, and a group
of visiting Specialists in the State
Department of Health and other
agencies, are being taught the
medium through which community
health problems may be found and
solved

Through the grant m aid sup-
plied by the W K Kellogg Founda-
tion, Battle Creek. Mich . to the
Texas State Department of Educa-
tion on the Texas Public Health
Projec t, the Department uf Educa-
tion has inaugurated the three-
year health plan Through work-
shops. school administrators, com-
munity officials and < Ivie leaders,
the plan to improve health of Tex-
ans will be carried out
The Kellogg Foundation former-
ly sponsored health education pro-
grams in 24 of the 48 states, but
a more concentrated organization
has been set up in six states Cull
fornla was the first selected by
the foundation for aid. and Texas
was the second.

teacher-trainer workshops are the

them for approval in Austin and
