The Texas legislature ended a record-breaking ses-
sion last Wednesday morning finally passing the more
important bills on Uie calendar but letting some die for
lack of time The seaston ended after 130 days, the nr st
time a Legislature has adjourned on time since the
paaaage of Uie constitutional amendment a decade ago
providing for the present length of the sessions
Perhaps the greatest single achievement in the clos-
ing day* at the session was the passage of the depart-
mental appropriation bill with a *10 000 000 reduction
for the biennium as i-ompared with the appropriation
for the previous two years More money perhaps could |
have been trimmed from some of the budgets wiUiout
