has approved the rerouting of
State Highway 75 - A through Den-
ison. In accordance with requests
ot Grayson county and Denison of-
ticlals.
The new route will follow the
present route of U. 8. 75 from Iron
Ore Creek along Armstrong Ave.
to Main Street, thence along Main
,Street to Tone Avenue; thence
•along Tone Avenue to Washington
Street and along Washington
Street to connection with the high-

ison Darn and on to intersect U

House members applauded but
rejected Wednesday a proposal
that they "make a little sacrifice"
by giving up their customary mile-
age allowances.
The proposal was advanced as an
amendment to an appropriation bill
by Rep. Wadsworth <R-NY) and
was defeated by a standing vote of
143 to 27 Members were not re-
corded by name.
The bill provided 8232.000 — 851,-
000 for senators and 8171.000 for
I representatives — to re-lmburse
| members for transportation costs
: of coming to Washington and re-
i turning to their homes for the pres-
I ent session. Allowances are eom-
. puted at the rate of 20 cent a mile

The government, Just moving Into
its heaviest tax collection period,
may be 87,000,000,000 (bill Iona I to
the good by the end of March.
And there la a good chance it
will be able to show that same
budget surplus for the entire 1948
fiscal year when it ends next June
30. This would be far above the
president's original official esti-
mate of 14.687.000.000. which he
will revise next month.
Already receipts have exceeded
spending by more than 8715,000,-
000 (millions) and officials said to-
day another 16,000,000,000 (billions)
or so may be added during the
next three and a half months.
At bottom, they said, the big
tax season should add 15.000,000,-
000 to the existing surplus, which
was built up through the slackest
revenue period the government
goes through.

Wednesday night to an estimated
audience of 600 In the North Texas
State College auditorium.
Assisted In the final number,
