■Religious School Events
The Religious School has been busy this year in spite of Hur-
ricane Ike and all the days missed due to the holidays.
Our Kindergarten celebrated their consecration on Sunday,
Oct. 19, in front of the whole school. Rabbi Rosen and Hazzan
Propis co-officiated at this milestone event. We are pleased and
excited to announce 25 children were inducted into the world of
Jewish learning.
Our 1st and 2nd grade students attended two presentations at the
JCC Bookfair. They were delighted to hear our very own Renee
Suchowiecky and Jodi Gold present their book, Lollipup and Luv-
able. Following their presentation, the children were enthralled by
the creations of Joel Stem who presented his book, Jewish Holiday
Origami.
Our 3rd -7th graders moved to the beat of the music by singer
Sheldon Low who is one of the up and coming Jewish musical
artists.

■2nd Annual Pajama Havdalah
The Beth Yeshurun Family Life Committee
presented the Second Annual Pajama Havdalah
on November 15,2008. Over 130 people were in
attendance. Chairs Jody Radoff and Sarah Gibbs,
along with Family Life Coordinator Bianca Wig-
der, Tammy Friedman and Rabbi Brian Strauss
organized the event. The children dressed in
their favorite pajamas and participated in a fam-
ily Havdalah service led by Rabbi Brian Strauss
and Cantor Francyne Davis Jacobs. In spite of
the surprise cold front, the
service was held outdoors
in the Sukkah courtyard.
Following the service, the
families enjoyed a pasta
dinner and dessert. Muffy
the Clown entertained the
children while the parents
visited with one another.
The evening was a great

■Lance Berkman visits Beth Yeshurun
Over 500 people were inspired by a local sports hero Lance
Berkman on Monday night, Nov. 17. Lance Berkman reminded our
children of the importance of commitment, confidence and cour-
age in sports and in
life. We owe Lance
a special apprecia-
tion for volunteer-
ing his time to be
with our children. ’
